June 17, 201015 yr Folks,Just thought I spread a little joy which I experienced for the first time. I finally put the last piece of the puzzle in my rig last night which was an EVGA GTX480. Uninstalled NHancer per Nick N. updated 480 guide and also dropped in his NVidia profile. Created a new FSX.CFG file with only a few modifications. Set TBM=80 and added the HighMem fix are the ONLY tweaks I made. Turned on AA in game and pushed autogen to max. Granted, I am running a i7.980x @ 4.5 GHz so combining that with a 480GTX has made FSX really run great. In addition, it appears that the resolution setting of 5040x1050 issue has finally been resolved with the latest WHQL release 257.21. In the past I had to create a custom resolution to obtain 5040, but no more. Just wanted to spread a little happiness to the FSX community. :( :( Happy Landings,Tony
June 17, 201015 yr Excellent news Tony! That is so encouraging and exciting! Maybe there is a i980X in my future sometime. :( Stephen
June 17, 201015 yr Thanks for sharing this wonderful news, I have had two GTX 480 idling doing nothing waiting for the 3d vision surround drivers, but if I can use TH2Go and get the resolution I want think I will install them.BTW what Bclock/multiplier and voltage are you using for 4.5 Ghz, I could only get mine to 4.4.Thanks.
June 17, 201015 yr Are ALL your sliders maxxed? Now dont fib now because I have the exact same setup as you 980X, 480SC and with my pmdg J41 sitting in KORD with dreamteam scenery and get about 24 fps. I did the same tweaks you did and I THINK I did them properly so I just want a comparison as to what you get. If you have the same scenery and the PMDG J41 can you tell me what frames you are getting? Mine IS running pretty darn smooth though which is the important part but I was expecting about 35 fps with my setup. I just used that overclocking utility that asus has (bumpup?? or whatever it is called) and overclocked it to 4.2. I know this isnt the "proper" way to overclock but I just got lazy and didnt feel like tweaking the bios after spending time tweaking FSX. TWEAK TWEAK TWEAK.......the story of any FS'ers life!

TWEAK TWEAK TWEAK.......the story of any FS'ers life!Hi Jack,No, not all, but most - check about my sliders in my shot below (sorry about the stretched resolution. Your FPS are on par with mine. Smooth and clear is way more important than high FPS. I have the JetStream also but use USA/CAN GEX and yes, I get a round the same FPS as you. Most payware aircraft will eat frames and of course, some more than others.Overclocking is not all that hard once you get the basics down. Here are my settings which pushed me to 4.5 Ghz on H50 Corsair cooler.Cpu Ratio = 21xBclk Freq = 215cpu volt = 1.35cpu pll = 1.81QPI/Dram = 1.35IOH volt = 1.16ICH volt = 1.12cpu differential amp = 800mV
June 17, 201015 yr Hi Tony.Glad to see you "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
June 17, 201015 yr Hey Tony. I have GEX as well. I am fairly familiar with OC'ing but am very new to the i7 so I appreciate your settings. It gives me a baseline on what to set. I have about the same setting for sliders so at least we are on par. Funny though, I really thought the i7with a 480OC card would absolutely crush FSX but I guess not. Guess we really need an optimized FS11. Thats it, I am calling Bill right now to get MS to get the aces team up and running. Jack
June 18, 201015 yr When I was using the 197.41 drivers - 5040x1050 was not an option when choosing resolutions. I had to manully create a custom 5040x1050 with a specific 59.x refresh rate. Now, 5040x1050 is simply an option to choose from. This was a driver issue from the start which NVidia finally corrected.I do not get the black edge your referring to now or as I remember, then. You may want to look at the Matrox PD tool for GXM - bezel management.I have gotten everything to work with the same setup, but I cant seem to set AA past the in-game setting, are you having the same experience?

October 11, 201015 yr HI,Just saw your OC for the I7-920 at 4.2Ghz. Could you tell me what your settings are to achieve that?Thanks,wtr49p Thanks for sharing this wonderful news, I have had two GTX 480 idling doing nothing waiting for the 3d vision surround drivers, but if I can use TH2Go and get the resolution I want think I will install them.BTW what Bclock/multiplier and voltage are you using for 4.5 Ghz, I could only get mine to 4.4.Thanks. wtr49p

October 15, 201015 yr Dont have J41, but with 744X I get 27 @ FSDT KORD with GEX, REX2, UTC & MyTrafficX @ 100%. All sliders to the right.
