June 29, 201015 yr hi again... I'm trying to add a missing taxiway at Manila's International Airport... I've used AFCAD for FS9 and ADE... but it doesn't appear when I fire up FS9...That particular taxiway is almost identical to another adjacent taxiway, both connect to the same runway... I just wanted to copy that taxiway to make the missing one...I'm using mia08.zip for manila...how do I do it?

June 29, 201015 yr Author I presume you have added the taxi way with AFCAD and/or ADE.When you compile the airport (in ADE) or save it (in AFCAD) which folder are you sending the bgl file to?Thanks for the reply sir!actually I'm not sure... this is the first time I did something like this for FS...the taxiway does appear at AFCAD and/or ADE when I open it, but it doesn't show up at FS...when I edit that airport, I just save it straightaway, not using "save as"...EDIT: whenever I use AFCAD, 3 files always appear beside the tool on the folder (AirportIndex, FileList and AFCAD2.ini)... what do I do with them?
June 29, 201015 yr Author here's a screenshot of my problem...(BTW, I'm editing Mike Kwan's NAIA scenery for personal use (mia08.zip)...)in any of the airport scenery editors I used (ADE, AFCAD for FS9 (the one I used to add the taxiway), AFX FSSC), it clearly shows the taxiway there... but when I fire up FS9, the taxiway isn't there... is there anything I did wrong? (I used AF2_RPLL.bgl to open up the scenery for editing)thanks a bunch for any help forwarded... really need this one...

In AFCAD when you save the airport it should save a new bgl file containing the changed airport. First time you save it AFCAD should ask you which folder to save it in. The simplest place to save it is in the Addon Scenery\scenery Folder of FS9. You must make sure that FS9 is not running when you save it otherwise it is possible that the changes will not save. In ADE you need to use File > Compile to create a bgl file with the revised airport in. Again ADE will ask you for a folder to save the bgl file into. June 29, 201015 yr Rather than continue the "speculation" as to what the OP might have done incorrectly, I took the time to download and install the scenery in question.I also attempted to "add" a taxiway using the AFCAD program. It did not display. As I suspected, the author has used an "old" technique (design program) in which the runways, the taxiways and tarmac etc. which you see are actually a part of the scenery. They are not being generated by the afcad. The afcad (which actually is sitting "underneath" the scenery you see) is being used primarily to establish correct routing for AI aircraft. In this particular case, it it also being used to allow the crosswind runway to be active.Any edits made to the afcad are simply not going to be "seen" as they are being "masked" by the scenery itself. As far as I know, the only way anything like a taxiway could be added would be to know what design program the author used and have access to his orginal source files. I think the chances of that happening are slim and none.In the vast majority of airports we see the runways, the taxiways and tarmac et, etc, are indeed being created by the afcad in use - but that is not the case here.Sorry i donlt have better news to share.
June 30, 201015 yr Sounds like a job for Airport for Windows, but it's been years since I had that installed. The general approach would be1. Use BGLAnalyze to disassemble mia08taxi.bgl and save the sca file2. Start AfW, start a new project, and import the scasm sca file from step 1.3. Add new taxiways in AfW4. Save project, then compile a replacement bgl.5. Install replacement bgl in scenery folder6. Update AF2_RPLL.bgl to match (sounds like you've done this).7. You might be able to create any new taxisigns using ADE9, but I've never tried that with a "scasm" airport.scott s..

June 30, 201015 yr Author I'm afraid that's the cold truth...But last one... is there a way to add a ground texture (a.k.a. pavement) to this taxiway? (my idea actually, is to copy the ground texture of the adjacent taxiway (the one directly below the red circle in the screenshot) for this one, since those two taxiways are identical in shape... thanks a bunch once more!
June 30, 201015 yr FYI - none of the versions of BGLAnalyze (including what I believe is the latest) which I tried will open "old style" bgl files.Had no trouble opening mia08taxi.bgl. It had a sca file and 195 api macros. I installed AfW 3.0 just to check and it seems to load OK. Getting AfW to work for you is a job in itself, and I'm kind of lazy to relearn it well enough to make the mod, but I did add the taxiway (doubt it would look too good though without tweaking).scott s..
June 30, 201015 yr I would love to know which version of BGLAnalyze you used that would open that file.

July 1, 201015 yr Author where can I get BGLAnalyze and AfW now (the version you're using now)? I can't seem to find it...thanks a bunch!
