Making 3rd party aircraft flyabble?

Featured Replies

Hi thereI was wondering if there is anyway of changing the the aircraft.cfg file so that it would make third party aircraft like, POSKY and PA into an AI suitable aircraft? I want this as I hav just bought a new computer and I am getting 240 fps. So I thought I would give It a go but I don't know how too! Thanks in advancePlanenutter

Generally, the aircraft dynamics of AI differ in some respects than a true user flyable model. This has to do with the FS AI approach design and where they settle. As far as an AI model it usually does not have a panel so the AI rendering does not get loaded down and many have a lower polygon count with less detail.Usually there are sufficient AI models provided via packages from the likes of MRAI and WOAI as well as individual AI models with many paints (liveries) available. It is best to choose a model designed specifically for AI use.Search the library here for AI aircraft or AI packages so you won't have to compile your own AI schedules.

How come I could make them in FSX though. I decided to turn back to FS9 because I liked it better and now I can't create any ai fligh plans with third party aircraft! This is really strange and i really need some one to help me.Thanks for the suggestion by the way, but I really do want to use the third party aircraft :thanks in advance planenutter

I just made a few experiments - using POSKY aircraft and here is what I discovered:Anytime I created a Traffic file which called for one of my POSKY aircraft to be used, it froze my system as it was loading the traffic file.Thinking it might have something do do with the .air file, I substituted an .air file from a default aircraft which is used as a flyable and AI craft. Same result - it froze my system. There must be something in the aircraft.cfg for the model file of the POSKY aircraft which cause this strange behavoir when attempting use the aircraft as an AI craft. I have not tried this with other third party aircraft..... yet.

Have you tried using Thomas Molitor's AI Traffic Mover? You can use any aircraft in your aircraft folder. It is very useful for creating flight plans, editing .cfg files and adding ATC parking codes and such. Search the AVSIM library for it.

And put it where is required in the error message ... AFAIK (I don't use those proggies ..) Regards.bye.gifGus.

OK that is done. Now I have this error!

Plannetter - I really believe you are spinning your wheels -No matter what program you use to create a Traffic file which calls for a third party aircraft like the POSKY planes, I believe you will get the same system freeze that I did (described in a previous message). My feeling is that it is the aircraft which is the "problem" not the program being used to create the traffic file.

Here is a video of a Meljet 777 doing a TNG at PHF along with a Tom Gibson's CalClassic DC-6B and Militon Shupe's Aero Commander 520 taking off for different parts of the country. The Meljet does not have a VC, while the DC-6 does (though there is a version without the VC) and Milton Shupe's AC may or may not have one, he has 2 different versions for each of the AC models he has released. I added the DC-6 and the AC520 previously as I like seeing some classic aircraft flying around my skies. Note, the 777 needs an extra 600 or 700

Just curious to know if you have tried it on a POSKY aircraft?
