July 26, 201015 yr Hello all, after all the help I got here in this forum an other forums, this is the system I'm getting:-ASUS RAMPAGE II EXTREME X58/ICH10R 1366-Pin-intel core i7 980X 3.33GHz 12MB 1366 Six-Core-ZOTAC GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 C/HDMI PCI-EXP-ATX Cooler Master HAF 922 BLACK + SevenTeam 1000W ST-1000EAZ- HD Seagate 1TB 7200RPM 32MB SATA II (FOR WINDOWS 7)- HD WD VelociRaptor 300 GB, SATA 3 Gb/s, Cache 16 MB, 10.000 RPM (for FSX and Add-ons)- Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x 2408) DDR3 DIMM Triple Channel Kits Memory, PC3-14400 1866MHz- LG W2353V MONITOR WIDESCREEN 23"- wINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL 64bitAny regards on that? should I get a good overall performance in FSX even with display settings down to the right???Many thanks again!Lucas.
July 26, 201015 yr What is the latency on that ram? Make sure it is lower than C7. Also, I have ne'er heard of Seventeam PSUs. Can't comment on them but be careful. You might be better to get a known brand such as Corsair, Coolermaster, Antec or Enermax etc. What about a decent cooler to OC that beast? Maybe liquid cooling? I suggest the corsair H50. That's what I use. Instead of the seagate HD, get a western digital caviar black 1TB with 64Mb cache, double the cache means better performance from that HD. Other than that looks good.
July 26, 201015 yr Do you think Noctua's NH-U12P would be alright? water coolers are still very expensive. And, between the Corsair Dominator 6GB PC3-14400 1866MHz with higher latency (couldn't get in touch with the seller to figure that out yet) and the XMS3 Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR 3 1600mhz CAS 7-8-7-20 1.65V wich would you choose?I've noticed you have 12gb of RAM. I've heard in other forums that this difference in the amunt of RAM wouldn't make a big difference in performance regrding FSX? do you agree? how does it work for you?thanks again,Lucas.
July 26, 201015 yr I use 12 GB because my system is used for other games as well. The corsair H50 isn't that expensive, costing about the same as a high end air cooler. It's more effective. I recommend the 1600MHz if the latency is above 7 for the 1866.

July 26, 201015 yr Hello ChrisIt is interesting where all of these PSU's originate and the effect good advertising and productplacement have on our buying patterns.Regarding PSU's, out of the many OEM manufactures out there only a few risk putting their own name on the products that they make, Seasonic being one of the best quality wise.
July 28, 201015 yr The corsair H50 isn't that expensive, costing about the same as a high end air cooler. It's more effective. No it's not more effective!!!! :( The Noctua NH-D14 is the best air cooler around at the moment. It's currently overclocking my i7 920 to 4.2GHz with ease, nice and cool.I'd also recommend innovation coolings diamond paste. It will knock off a few more degrees compared with other TIM.The NH-D14 out performs the H50 by a considerable margin. It's big though, the 120 fan may need to be offset slightly to accommodate the Dominator's heat spreader, or alternatively you can unscrew the top fin from the Dominator. As for RAM latency, and the advice to go for better than Cas 7... I use Cas 8, and FSX runs great.
July 28, 201015 yr It does depend on the speed of ram you are using. Slower speeds such as 1333MHz shows a greater difference when lower latency than 1600mHz does.
July 28, 201015 yr Mushkin Redline 1600 has 6-8-6-24 timings, well built with thermal tape under the heatsinks, not just glue. I can recommend them. Good luck with the build! "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
