August 1, 201015 yr I have a question for Ryan or someone from development team. When the decision is made to design a new product ie J41 or 747/8 what is the criteria in which the decision is based on going into the design phase then into actual delivery of the product. Is it cost, hopeful sales, or maybe the product may used as a test bed for future products, which I believe is the case of the J41.Just curious.Richard ChurchillPVT SEL Richard Spencer Churchill PVT SEL GYSGT USMC (ret)
August 1, 201015 yr Considering their position in the market, id say pretty much all the factors would contribute in some form of level
August 1, 201015 yr also what has not been made before. I.E a 727 would be no good because CS have one and concorde would be no good because FFL have one Dylan Leonard
August 2, 201015 yr Commercial Member It's a combination of all those things and some others. In the case of the J41, the primary driving force was actually just the fact that RSR flew them in real life and had always wanted PMDG to make one, even as far back as the Fly/Fly II days of the company. There's some extra bonuses like having it be a testbed for some of the new VC tech we're using on the NGX, the fact that there really is no other high-level turboprop sim for FSX etc...Sometimes it's even just plain old customer demand - we've had people beg us for a 777 for years now, that was a major factor in us deciding to do one. It's very rare that there's one single reason any company decides to create and market a product. August 3, 201015 yr Tks Ryan appreictae the response. Wow from a J41 to 747, now there is a jump. You know, ive almost clocked 190 hours in the queen, and to be honest, if you read the tutorials and manuals its quite easy to operate her. One of the hardest things for me (still) is to remeber when to turn on the correct lights at the correct time, switch specific fuel pumps and crossfeeds on/off etc etc :(

One of the hardest things for me (still) is to remeber when to turn on the correct lights at the correct time, switch specific fuel pumps and crossfeeds on/off etc etc :(Yeah but your still forgetting a lot. What about talking to the controllers, airspace clearances, airspace dimensions, suitable runway length to land on, emergency procedures (this is probably the biggest) etc... Knowing the information is 90% of flying and 10% is actually flying. So you've accomplished less than 5% because you know the basics how to operate one (what about old navigation? etc.) Steven Penninck
