August 4, 201015 yr Ok, my friends...We all know FSX was badly developed from the start for our curent computers. Now, here is the question. Let's suppose one of us had all the money you could think of and we ask all the different computer parts manufacturers to build parts to run FSX smoothly...What do you think that computer would be like....What kind of processor? Like a 10.0 Ghz processor? Or, a 5,000 Mhz Gpu Video card processor ? Hummm....just wondering !In the end of you ask me.. I would love to move FSX, but after trying it (and yes, I do have a "strong computer), nothing comes close to FS9 performance, add-ons, liveries, scenery, etc. etc...There are payware and freeware out there that makes FS9 incredibly realistic--and best of all no headaches, or tweaking, or "let's try this, or lets try that" to make it run....Anyways, I'm sure some will come along saying: "Wrong, I run FSX smoothly-- no problems." Sure, like the blind saying: "Nothings's wrong with my vision, I can see" And, bang...stumbles!Ayway guys, just another experience !

August 4, 201015 yr And Johnny no offense but just today you asked in another thread on what the cfg file is and a step by step guide on how to get to it. So please it does not seem like you put in any effort to tweak either sim. So yes I and many others can run fsx smoothly
August 4, 201015 yr Moderator Have a few shots of a chyoice single malt Scotch Whisky before each flight - EVERYTHING gets smoother then!DAMHIKTVic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

August 9, 201015 yr There is only one thing that stops FSX just like real flying.. Money!!. I decided to do a build that was close to a year in the making. $3800 invested into this hobby and some just dont understand, including my wife. In the end, FSX runs super fluid even in the most demanding city enviroments. It chugs along at 45fps at 3w5 and once your airborn and up over 5000' I have seen the ticker break the 100fps mark. There are many simmers that just dont have the money to build a crazy big rig just for the enjoyment of flying. Since i'm a student pilot and a father of two, I dont have the time to fly for real and FSX is the next best thing. Please dont expect a off the shelf Dell or Gateway to give you the results that you see in some of these videos. My wifes new Gateway with a i5 processor cost a whopping $650 and my video card cost $450. FSX makes her PC run like a slide show but FS9 runs nice and fluid. With the advent of REX/GEX/ORBX and all the other addons transforms FSX in a true flight simulator that puts FS9 to shame and really dates it. I would say FS9 is great for off the shelf PC's and FSX is great for custom build PC's.

August 10, 201015 yr Tried using fraps and my fps went from 55 down to low 30's and seemed choppy. I used my sony camcorder over the shoulder to film the screen. I will get it posted in the next 24hrs. Its downwind to base to final on 3w5. Even shows my side slip to perfection. I will report back when it is up.
August 11, 201015 yr Here is the video, FPS was 45-61 while doing the circuit. Not the best video but it will do for now. 10-15 knot crosswind. The couple stutters are from the you tube server . The GTX 285 Classified was a limited edition Beast that can easily hand the Fermi cards there lunch on FSX.
