UT Europe Problem

Featured Replies

I've had UT USA for a couple of years and I finally broke down and purchased UT Europe. I may have made an error during the installation of the software on to my computer. After installing the base package to my sim, I checked for FS9 patches on the UT Web Site. I found three update patches were available, 1.1, 1.11 and 1.12. I installed all three patches. I later discovered that I only needed to install the 1.12 patch, the version that I had purchased was already patched to version 1.12. My first test flight was from Zurich to Rome in a SR22. That is when I found that the lakes and oceans were a problem. Instead of seeing rounded or jagged shorelines, I'm seeing the squared tile images of the water.I think I need to uninstall and reinstall the software. My problem is that I can not locate the manual for UT Europe. I ecpected it to be under the Flight1 Software folder but it is not there and there is no link to a web site. Would somebody please explain to me how to remove the UT Europe software package safely. Also, a hint to where I should be looking for the manual would also be a big help.ThanksTom

HelloTry running the UTE configurator again , select restore all FS2004 scenery. Then run the patch again. After that run the UTE configuator and set your options to suit. The uninstaller is in the \Flight Simulator 9\Flight One Software\UltimateTerrain\Europe\ directory.the manual is available here on the left of the pagehttp://www.scenerysolutions.com/ut_downloads_FS9.html

Mad Dog, Thank You.I may have yet another problem. I do have UT USA running on my computer without any problems. When I load FS9 and go to the Scenery Library, I can see in the scenery area a listing for Ultimate Terran USA. I do not see a similair listing for Ultimate Terrain Europe. Should I be seeing a listing for UT Europe?I am running Windows 7 Pro64 and a small number of FS9 Addon Programs that ran well under my Windows XP configuration have given me some problems in the new operating system. That being said, UT USA installed without error and is running as expected. When I remove UT Europe, I will first run the restore all FS2004 Scenery option found UT Europe Setup Manager, I will then run the remove program found in the Flight One Software Folder for UT Europe, run a resistery cleaner, and finally re-install the program.Anything I'm missing?ThanksTom

Mad Dog, thank you again.I'll reset everything tomorrow and when I reload the program I'll be sure to run it as the administrator. What I saw of program it is a bigger upgrade of the terrrain and scenery than UT USA was to FS9.Thanks againTom

Still no joy.I re-installed only the basic program, that is I did not load the 1.12 patch. Reran the UT Europe Configuration Setup Tool, loaded FS9 and saw the same issue as before, squared water tiles. I went back into the configuation tool, restored all FS2004 scenery files, reload the sim and the water tiles were rounded and jagged or normal. I competely removed UT Europe, reran the sim no problems.Prior to restoring the FS2004 scenery files I again checked the FS9 Scenery Library and again UT Europe was not listed. I also posted a similiar message over in the Simforums Web Site asking for support. The makers of UT use that site to provide technical support but if anybody has an idea please feel free to post a potetional solution here.Tom

Hello TomWhere do you have the sim installed?, In Win7 it is best to have it outside of \Program Files (x86)\ because of the problems with permissions.Did you run the installer as admin?Have you tried adding the scenery.cfg entries manually?I will follow the thread over at simforums and join in if I think of anything else.
Have you tried adding the scenery.cfg entries manually?
Yes, do exactly like mad dog advises here. If you have no scenery entreis, the files will simply not work.Be careful though to name them exactly as they are named in your Addon Scenery folder, as your names may vary from mad dog's. Mine are different.

Guys,Thank you for your help. Between your help and a reply from the UT Product Support Team, I down have everything up and running. What a difference in the roads, water and overall detail. Mad Dog, Below is a link that was provided to me my the UT PST and how they recommended the layering of the scenery files. This is just for reference, see what you think about their approach. Although I layer UT Europe per their recommendation I fully open to make other changes.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=33351Again, thank you everybody for your helpTom

Hello TomGlad you got it all sorted. My entries are in reverse order as I took them directly out of a report generated by the scenery manager that I use(Addit pro).Viewed in the FS9 scenery manager they are listed in the correct order. The UTEurCity Landclass Sandwich in my scenery config is because I have installed the "Landclass sandwich patch" which essentially makes the UT landclass transparent apart from the cities and urban areas. This allows other third party local landclasses to show through leaving only the UT landclasses to depict cities and urban (which they do quite well)

Hey, guys!Sorry for a late reply. But it has come to my head only now: where is your Eastern Europe (UTEUREE) update?I can't see it in your condig entries, which could mean your virtual Europe ends in Germany (eastward). :(

Rafal,If I install the UTEUREE update, where does it go in the scernery library? In example, what scenery library file does it go in front or behind? My first few flights using UT Europe have been great. I have i5 processor chip and with my Frame Rates set at 35, with all sim and ut options set to max, I am still seeing a constaint 35 FPS in the sim.Tom

As the Eastern Europe update is just another pack of UTE main files, put it after the last pack which, in mad dog's example is Ultimate Terrain - Europe 6 .In my Scenery.cfg it is like that:Ultimate Terrain - Europe 1Ultimate Terrain - Europe 2Ultimate Terrain - Europe 3Ultimate Terrain - Europe 4Ultimate Terrain - Europe 5Ultimate Terrain - Europe 6Ultimate Terrain - Eastern EuropeUltimate Terrain - Europe LightsUltimate Terrain - Ind/Comm Landclass

Hello TomThat looks is correct, This is how I have them layered but I am also using the Landclass sandwich patch for UTE so there is another entry for Ind/Comm Landclass at the top of the scenery library that is not shown in this shot.[Area.259]Title=Ultimate Terrain - Ind/Comm LandclassActive=TRUELayer=259Required=FALSELocal=SCENERY\UTEURLCExclude=N28 29.37,W16 21.48,N28 28.62,W16 19.52,objects
