My home cockpit with pics

Featured Replies

Hello everybody.I am starting my home cockpit project and would like to share my progress, I am in the very begining of the project(started it 2 days ago) so there is not much to it right now, but i will continue to post pics with my progress. As you can see all I got as of yet is the start of my center console, I mounted my saitek throttle(Would like to add another right beside it at some point).I added a toggle switch which will be the park brake(I owuld like to add a lighted toggle switch at some point, but I am not sure if this is possible with the BU0836X card), I also drilled 2 holes right below the throttle which I will be adding 2 toggles for the fuel cutt-off switches. I am on hold for now as I wait for supplies to come in from ebay, I got some toggle switches and also a USB hub coming. I purchased the switches from Ebay (cheapest I can find around) and also the USB hub from ebay.I will be purchasing an BU0836X in the next week to get my swithes to work with FS. I plan on adding a lot more switches but I am still working out what I would like to put as for switches in my center console. I am also planning on making an overhead panel but i would like to get my center console done first. I may need another BU0836X card but will work with the one for now and see where it takes me.Anyways here are some pics, I know i have a long way to go but this is the start of something beautiful :( P.S I more so leaning towards making it a 737NG but as I am using regular toggles it will be pretty much a generic cockpit to use with any plane, I mainly use the pmdg 737 and also the level d 767, so it should work out pretty good.P.S.S any suggestions are welcome as i am always open to hear some cool ideas anyone might have.

thanks for the links, I learned quite a bit from these links, Especially about the pmdg 737 overhead macro file within the fsuipc zip file(this will save me a ton of time and work). Thanks againP.S My BU0836X card is ordered. i am going to start wiring an overhead first then maybe an autopilot along with an efis. Thats the plans so far but am still waiting for parts.

Good starting setup mate. And good luck with it!I am also building a 767 cockpit. But most of the parts Im finding are for 737 like the Overhead Panel in Opencockpits site (http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/panels-overhead-color-p-272.html). Its costly but VERY good looking. But I guess we can fly both A/Cs with that overhead. One advise to you, as I realised, the BU0836X is an input controller only. What you're gonna need later on is also some output indicators from FS like "Gauges", "Fuel Low", "Gear Up/Down" etc... So better to start working with OpenCockpits because it provides 2-way communications.Read more about OpenCockpits SIOC on:http://www.mycockpit.org/forumtest/content.php/242-AND-WHAT-DOES-IT-DOI havent tried it yet, but I will.Fouad

I absolutely LOVE the way you mounted the saitek throttle at an angle like that! A fantastic idea that I think I'd like to incorporate into my own setup. Great stuff, keep us posted with updates!

Happy Flying!
