  1. Hi,This is happening since I bought the MD-11 but never asked about it. I cannot deply spoliers if Slats/Flaps are extended. I think it is normal operation of the MD-11. Or not? Thanks,Fouad Safi
  2. Interresting subject...I use TOPCAT instead of load manager. And I am planning to install FS PAssengers in the coming days but I will stick to TOPCAT as the manager. Which one will dominate in terms of load and fuel?regards,Fouad
  3. Well, I run the PMDG MD-11 on FS9 and Windows 7 64 bit with UAC (User Account Control) disabled. I never ran FS9 as Admin.Just few days ago I assigned the "X" to the A/T disconnect. I did it through the PMDG menu... No issues :( Fouad
  4. Glad you mentioned that. I'm still trying to land at LOWI Innsbruck with the LLZ/DME RWY26 approach. When I select the LLZ 26 approach on the FMC, it requires me to enter the MIN PROF. Well I tried entering numbers from 0 all the way up to 36000! None was accepted and it said OUT OF RANGE or something similar. Knowing that LOWI RWY elevation is around 1900ft, what should the MIN PROF value be? Otherwise I always have to always enter the points manually... I dont quite understand that statement or maybe I got the RNAV concept wrong. When I enter the waypoints manually for the LOWI LLZ/DME 26 approach, I enter the speed and altitude with it as well. Engage AFS (FMC SPD / NAV / PROF) and flap down gradually. So the MD-11 follows those waypoints and numbers all the way from the IAF (RTT) to RWY 26, after that I continue manual landing. Those entered waypoints with speed/alt restrictions are not RNAV? I'm following the exact approach as mentioned in the charts.Cheers,Fouad
  5. Hello (No Name),I just tried out LHBP in FS Commander 9.0. I couldn't find any STARs for it. Not all A/Ps have stars. ATC usually gives vectors in those cases. Its a forum rule that you write your full name for next time :)Cheers,Fouad
  6. Are you talking about the real MD-11 or the PMDG MD-11?This might be a silly thought... I never been in a cockpit before, but I doubt the presence of all that wind sound during flight. I've been in the cabin (not MD-11 though) alot of times and I did heard or noticed a very little difference in the sound between ground and flight aside from the roaring engines.Might the wind sound in the PMDG be a bit exagerated :( Fouad
  7. Yep I guess thats it... So it was the wind making all that noise :)) Now it shut up. hahaThanks mate....
  8. Thanks guys,Pete, Yes I tried that. Nothing changed.Barfra1995, I have FS9 so here is what I got in the sound.cfg file:[WIND_SOUND]filename=PMDGMD11_WINDflags=0viewpoint=1minimum_volume=0maximum_volume=10000minimum_rate=1.10maximum_rate=1.30minimum_speed=160maximum_speed=650The sound became louder I guess when I took off. I want to try and cancel the wind effect so shall I bring down all values to zero?Fouad
  9. Hi,Is there a way to reduce the cockpit packs sound in the MD-11? Its too loud making it difficult to hear ATC when I fly VATSIM.FS9 and Windows 7Thanks,Fouad
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong...I (THINK) I remember seeing it somewhere in the FMC. Maybe the To/APPR page? Try opening that page during your landing phase. I wont be on my MD-11 tonight. I'll be flying the Level-D 767 admittingly And let me know if you find it and where :( Cheers,
  11. Thanks for the clarification...So I understand from what you said that the 'Z' triggers the A/P on the Yoke OFF which in turn dis-engages the AFS. Right? Its only an A/P disconnect. So if I press it again it just clears the warning but it will not re-engage the AFS?And there is another key for the A/T OFF on the throttle quad. Which acts similar to the above. Pressing it will disconnet the A/T, dis-engage the FMC SPEED and pressing again will not re-engage the FMC SPEED. The second press is just to clear the alarm.Am I close enough?Fouad
  12. Hi,I'm confused between these two and I would like to clarify the following points:1- What is the difference between pressing the 'Z' on the keyboard and pressing the AUTO FLIGHT button on the center glareshield?2- Is the 'Z' for all FMC SPEED, NAV & PROF? So pressing it wil enable/disable all the 3 systems together?3- If AFS was engaged and I pressed 'Z', what should happen? I suspect that the AFS OVRD OFF 1 & 2 switches be pressed down but that doesnt happen. And being so, which button/switch on the MD-11 cockpit gets animated when I press the 'Z'?Can someone clarify this please? Thanks :)Fouad
  13. You might want to check this out: www.fs-repaints.co.uk Its not for free though
  14. Im running FS9 and never saw this b4.1- How many screens are you using?2- And if more than one, do they have different resolutions? If they do, try setting them to one resolution.3- You can also try with just one screen4- You can also try re-installing the MD-115- Is your graphics driver up to date? It might also be corrupted so try re-installing it.Those are the ideas that came to my mind, maybe someone else can shed more light here...Good LuckFouad
  15. Hi Steve,I'm an MD-11 newbie as well Let us ASSUME that you did 'push' or 'pull' the ALT knob by mistake, pressing the PROF again was the correct thing to do once you experience such scenario :( Assuming that, repeat the tutorial again and see if it descends automatically. I've redone that tutorial for over 3 times to check how things flow... Until now, I still miss out some things like setting AUTO FLIGHT before takeoff And please post back your results...Cheers,Fouad
  16. Hi,In FS Video Setting try limitting the FPS to 40 or below. Dont keep it unlimitted. I run FS9 and that solved my stuttering problem.Cheers,Fouad
  17. Well, here I am answering myself. I noticed that when I run FRAPS to record my flights in MD-11 the suttering sound vanishes and the FPS drops from 100 to 30 (FRAPS recording setting). At 30 FPS the stutter vanished. So I tried to limit FPS to 40 in FS Video Settings and that was it :) No more stuttering...Cheers,Fouad :(
  18. Hi all,New customer here. Just bought the MD-11 COMBO and its a real beauty by the way!BUT, this thing is getting on my nerves... On ground and during taxi when the engines are not at its full power, the sound is fine. Once I spool up for takeoff and all the way after that to cruise and land I hear sound stuttering effect. The engine sound is constant and smooth but I hear another stuttering and discontinous sound in the background. What is that? and any idea how to eliminate it?Thanks,Fouad
  19. Hi simmers, have anyone tried this B747 MCP from CP Flight? And wich which A/C? I am planning to use it with Level-D 767.http://www.cpflight.com/sito/prodotti747.aspAny comments? Thanks,Fouad
  20. Good starting setup mate. And good luck with it!I am also building a 767 cockpit. But most of the parts Im finding are for 737 like the Overhead Panel in Opencockpits site (http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/panels-overhead-color-p-272.html). Its costly but VERY good looking. But I guess we can fly both A/Cs with that overhead. One advise to you, as I realised, the BU0836X is an input controller only. What you're gonna need later on is also some output indicators from FS like "Gauges", "Fuel Low", "Gear Up/Down" etc... So better to start working with OpenCockpits because it provides 2-way communications.Read more about OpenCockpits SIOC on:http://www.mycockpit.org/forumtest/content.php/242-AND-WHAT-DOES-IT-DOI havent tried it yet, but I will.Fouad
