  1. Made some progress on the overhead today. A few tweaks left to go
  2. Well, not exactly the same, but may be of some use to you.... I run a GTX680 and use three of the outputs for my visuals (3 60" plasma's at 5760 x 1080), and the forth output to drive my lower EICAS. All other displays are driven of another computer and I run ProSim737, not PMDG. Not sure you can run full screen with that setup. When I try the visuals are fine, but I lose the forth monitor to a black screen. On ground I'm in the high teens, low teens at FSDreamTeam airports. Keep in mind a few difference from your plan, I run a 680, not 660, I only drive visuals, no 2d panels as they are run through ProSim on another PC. I'm only driving one other display, the lower EICAS, on the PC running the visuals. Good luck with your plan. Also note, if you run a splitter your FO side will look backwards from how it should look....your PFD will be inboard on that side. ....and if your goal is to buy FDS stuff, you might as well start considering which avionics suite you're going to use (Sim Avionics, ProSim737, PM) as PMDG isn't going to cut it once you start interfacing your MIP, Overhead and Pedestal.
  3. With settings comparable to Word Not Allowed's list (or whatever they are calling it now that they kicked hom off of here), and running 5760 x 1080, I'm getting teens on the ground, sometimes as low as 11 with DreamTeam airports. Once airborne, its at the limiter (30) quickly. Keep in mind though I don't run any panels on my screens. PC is i5-3570K, now at 4.2, 8GB DDR3
  4. Thanks! No TH2G, using a GTX680 to drive it all, but will be moving to 3 PC's for the visuals shortly (one left to build). Plan on moving to XP10 with this. I recieved the Electric and Cabin Alt displays yesterday and have wired those into the panel, also got Ander's starter switches and a phidgets relay board, so will work on installing that this weekend and buttoning up the overhead so I can get back to flying.
  5. Well I bought it......Not a bad little time waster with the added "sim-business" aspect of building up a company. Eighteen months ago I was so sure I was going to like Sim Racing games (iRacing, Rally, etc), that I grabbed Fanatech GT3 Porsche Wheel, Clubsport pedals, an Obutto and had someone build a stand for my triple 40" LED's. My interest in Sim Racing faded quickly when I found out: 1. I suck 2. Seems to have a high proportion of wankers that get mad and crash into you on purpose The gear sat and I used the Obutto and Triple mount for IFR work prior to my test and other gaming. Dragged it all back out and it works great with ETS2. Worth the $30 on Amazon for me. The free demo, though not time limited, will cut you off around level 3 or 4.
  6. Trim Rings? Nice find on the MCP / EFIS
  7. Its actually the old wooden shell that Flightdeck Solutions used to sell before they moved to the metal one. Picked it up second hand from a guy that moved on to the new version and was nice enough to deliver it. Comes apart in 5 pieces now to make it a bit easier to move. Most of the PFD/ND EICAS displays are driven off an old Dell i5 refurb. The visuals are currently on an i5-3570K @ 4.2, 8GB, GTX680. I have two more of those mostly built up for when I switch to Xplane 10 (as soon as ProSim has working Avionics for it).
  8. Didn't get as far as I would have liked. There's a lot of switches and annunciators to wire....
  9. You forgot insurance. For a low time student or PPL owner, you're in for a shock if you're buying a 182 and getting hull quotes..... For $1000 a month, I can fly 11 hours a month renting......owning is not cheaper.
  10. I run it on three 60" monitors. To get rid of the "off" perspective I run three separate windows on top on the main view, each scaled to 50degree FOV and set up using windowmaker for the .flt file Using that there's no stretching on the side panels, though you'll see a performance hit.
  11. Perhaps some operator never repainted, but AA hasn't flown a 747 almost 20 years and never had much of a fleet when they did have them. Narita and Shanghai runs are trip 7s, same as UK.... Corporate page of fleet mix as well http://www.aa.com/i18n/amrcorp/corporateInformation/facts/fleet.jsp
  12. These people should be close enough to you http://symulatory.com/strona/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1
  13. AA hasn't had 747s in years, last ones were converted freighters. They were flying SPs on domestics for awhile but went away in -1984. Edit- last two 747 SP31s left the fleet in 1994
  14. Your career drop down links don't work with iPad. Can't scroll down to the bottom....
  15. Works fine for me a second ago.
  16. Muskegon Flying Club in Michigan. I'm in Grand Rapids now, but worth the 40 min drive for me. Greg gets a lot of Boston customers, so I guess the rates aren't too great in the northeast.....
  17. Our club has a $750 buy in rate, and $500 comes back to you if you leave. Monthly dues were just decreased $10 to $39 a month. Wet rates are: C150 $75 C172 $85 C177 $95 Mooney M20F $95 The Mooney actually makes money at that rate, the Cardinal loses a little, but its rates are higher because of the $10k AD we had on seat track replacement. We have a pretty active instructor that does a lot of accelerated PPLs and instrument ratings, 14 day PPL and 9 day IFRs. He flat rates his instruction so if it takes you 40 or 60 hours, you're paying the same rate for tHe instructor (plane rate of course is not flat rated). He attracts a lot of "one month members" from all over the country that come for his course and that $250 we get from those folks helps fund the club as well. We also get a fair amount of folks looking for a Mooney 10 hour checkout. Many are buying a mooney and want it for insurance purposes. Not many rental mooneys available at clubs or elsewhere, and none that I know of at our rates. The clubs aircraft have fully funded engine and prop reserves (C172 just got a new engine and prop) and the aircraft are fully paid for. Club rates and dues include insurance, but not liability. I flew just under 100 hours last year, finishing my Instrument, Seaplane (with traverse city air) and almost done with commercial. Plan to have CFI and CFII by May and then let others pay for some of my flight time and grab some of Greg's current student load. None of our instructors are looking to just build hours and head off to a 91 or 121 job. They have other careers and just enjoy flying. At least in the States, there are some reasonable places out there if you do a little searching..... ....I've been wanting to buy a Mooney, but with access I have at the current rates, I'd be nuts to unless we move far enough away from the club. I have 50+ hours in the Mooney now and would like to be over 100 for insurance purposes in case I end up buying in the future. Also have a Twin Commanche just south of here at $199 walk in rate and $179 block rate after 5 hour checkout.
  18. Scott's latest video is here He hangs out at cockpitbuilders.com mostly.
  19. Few more pictures down in the cockpit building section..... Mines ok, my friend is running five 60" LEDs. His build is amazing
