  1. Works great with Prosim737.....,
  2. Three T&G's (full stop if carry pax at night) within the previous 90 days to carry pax.....
  3. I hear you, six kids here I miss the Navy flying club, $28 an hour wet for a PA28-140
  4. Jersey taxes can be a killer. Lived in Delaware when I worked in Philly, much easier except the drive. Long beach flying club has good rates for the area, $115 wet on warriors and 172s. Flew out of their when I still worked for Boeing.
  5. Ouch, sorry to hear that. I stick with flightdeck solutions...awesome people and great service
  6. Good god I would give up too :( We took the mooney from Michigan to Las Vegas in December. 28.1 hours in a weekend, 18.3 actual instrument and 16 at night. Needed the hours for commercial (at 238 now) and a really nice trip.
  7. I stopped for nine years after college, ramped back up again late last year and finished instrument and seaplane and now a few hours short of commercial. Glad I went back to it, but having a flying club near with a low buy in rate and a Mooney at $95 wet, 172 $85 wet does help out a lot.
  8. For what it's worth, I just went from a i7-920@3.4 with dual GTX275s to an i5-3570k@4.1 with GTX 680. I run three screen with multiple undocked windows for my views and only use outside scenery as my cockpit is hardware, no need for on screen gauges. Gained 8FPS in stock KDFW and 4FPS at FSDT KDFW.... Not a whole lot
  9. Really bad advice.......
  10. Huge difference, more pixels to push. Just like any game, as the resultioj increases, the FPS drops. As for is it worth it, that's really a personal decision. If you like what you have now, no reason to change. Personally I run three 60" plasma's at 5760 x 1080, after experiencing that for some time, I would find it hard to go back. But as I was saying everyone has that sweet spot that is valuable to them. Some love high def plane textures, real photo scenery, detailed airports, etc... For me, I fly a hardware cockpit, like real weather, clouds and don't care what the outside of the plane looks like because I never see it, don't care about ground resolution much as I'm up in the flight levels quickly and only have a few detailed airports as I don't fly into many. Some fall somewhere between those positions....
  11. I'm going to guess your screen resolution is not 1920 x 1080, or 5760 x 1080 but Perhaps 1366 x 768?
  12. Depends on how quick you buy all the gear and whether you buy it wired or wire it yourself. FDS sells a fully wired MIP and overhead if you want to get going quickly, shell goes together in a day, few hours to build an 8x8 platform for it. That being said, I've been building for 3 years and he's about a year longer than that. Overhead can take a month of weekends to wire up itself. Yoke and rudder choices can be simple bolt to the floor, or complex like using salvage parts, building the connecting tube, wiring and finding the right tension returns.
  13. I really don't notice the bezels after flying a bit. Not that they are even a distraction at all.
  14. I have access to a mooney or Cardinal for $95 hr wet, owning at this point, flying 100 Or so hours a year would be crazy. Paying hangar lease, annual, insurance, engine reserves and fuel just doesn't add up to owning at this point. When I have a need to fly twice that, or need unrestricted access to the plane then I'll consider buying.
  15. Scott uses Samsung LEDs. Connected via DVI to HDMI. I don't have his model number, he did pop into Best Buy to get them. I use Panasonic plasma's, P60U50 model, as I like the black levels better on plasma's. that model is the 2012 so out of stock most places, however they were $810 each delivered. Fry's recently had them at $699 though.
  16. Lol, nah, mine's a lawyer, I would lose more than the sim if I traded!
  17. I run three 60's, but they were $800. Would love to move to five someday, but happy right now.
  18. Five PC's running that. Most of the gear is FlightDeck Solutions. Avionics and Systems software is Sim Avionics. XPlane10 64bit. Looks better than his previous 3 projector setup!
  19. Friend of mine just move up from three 60" TV's to five in his cockpit. Pretty awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=YXry4oG5L8E And part #2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=myMZi8SE1Ec
  20. Never mind, new driver load defaulted to the top menu bar having "maximize windows across all screens" unchecked.
  21. I'm running 3 screens (5760 x 1080) in 2D Surround Spanning and have added a 4th display (for my Lower EICAS) using the DP (with VGA adapter). If I run in fullscreen mode (ALT, View, Fullscreen), the 4th display goes black. When I was running the GTX275's in SLI, with the same Nvidia driver, I was able to stretch my display across all three displays and stay in windowed mode, and keep my lower display active. If I try and resize my screen beyond the size of the center screen (1920 x 1080) it won't now. If I pull it over to be in beween two displays and hit the top right window box to maximize, it snaps to the center screen and maximizes to 1920 x 1080. I'm sure I messed something up when I dumped the drivers, changed to the GTX 680, and re-installed. Maybe some setting like, "Open ne programs in center screen only", but for the life of me I can't find it. Any ideas?
