August 24, 201015 yr When I get weather around 45 miles out I am told landing runway 1L , 5 minutes later approach gives me runway 19R, as I'm flying by the field I notice 3 planes heading to runway 1L for take off. Now I'm really confused, but I select 1L and turn around to land at 1L . How do I find out the truth before I fly by the airport? Or do I ignore approach and take the weather runway?
August 24, 201015 yr Hi Jim,Are you flying FS9 or FSX? Do you use a weather program, and if you do what are the settings? This happens when some conflict causes RC4.3 to see Ai traffic using differing runways during your approach! If no traffic is about the call is made using weather but if AI traffic is then located runway usage may change.Norman Bowman Norman Bowman
August 24, 201015 yr Author I'm using Active Sky Enhanced, DWC and global stuff is turned off. I'm aware of RC using wind as the reference for landing runway, but my issue is that when contacting ATIS at 50 miles out I get the proper runway assignment, and I kind of remember the initial approach as being correct and shortly getting assigned the reciprocal runway only to notice 3 or so planes on the ground lining up to take off from my initial runway assignment. It doesn't happen every time, but I hope RC 5 will do it better.
August 25, 201015 yr Get this file:http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/TrafficLook.zipand put the .exe in a convenient folder. When you run it it will in its own window show as a grid AI behavior in range of your aircraft. Just alt-tab to it when you want to look. When you get a runway assignment conflict see what the pattern AI are doing. It only polls AI I think about every three seconds. Also, you should have wind smoothing somewhere available without global weather enabled in using ASE with FS9. There should be a section in the ASE manual dedicated to FS9 interfacing.
