July 15, 201114 yr Author None of the Qantas NG's have the flashing landing lights. It does exist on their Dash 8. In fact, I haven't ever seen an NG with the flashing landing light system.Source: http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story.jsp?id=news/BIRD061109.xml&headline=NTSB+Seeks+On-Aircraft+Birdstrike+Solutions&channel=commQantas Airlines, along with Pulselite lighting system vendor Precision Flight, evaluated the effectiveness of pulsed lighting in reducing birdstrike events. The full evaluation period ran from January 2005 through August 2007. Within that period, Qantas installed the lighting system on five Boeing 737-400s and five Boeing 737-800s and conducted normal operations with these aircraft for one year.Compared with comparable aircraft in the fleet without the pulsed lighting, results indicated that average birdstrike rate was reduced about 10%-30% per 1,000 departures for the 737-400s, and 10%-40% per 1,000 departures for the 737-800s. (The report did not list specific numbers of strikes involved.)I also saw a few Air New Zealand Dash-8s equipped with these.
July 15, 201114 yr Yes, there are a few -800's with QF that have pulsing lights.Although some of them have been wired wrong... the nav flights flash instead of the landing lights :( Regards,James White Aerosoft (Airbus X Extended/Twin Otter Extended/PFPX) & Majestic Q400 Beta Team

November 5, 201411 yr Will this feature be added in SP2? Would be good if this feature is added
November 6, 201411 yr Majority (but not all) Qantas 737-800's have Pulselite installed. They would be of no practical use in FS. But if shiny flashing lights is your thing... Brian Nellis. Brian Nellis
