On behalf of the Fly.Simvol team, I have the huge pleasure to announce that after several years of development and hard work, the 1st public version of Fly! Legacy (0.3.3 alpha), the free and opensource flight simulator, is now available for download on Fly.Simvol (http://fly.simvol.org/indexus.php).This software has been mainly developed by Chris Wallace, Jean Sabatier, Laurent Claudet, Luc Lion, Didier Rigault, Frank Dhont (other perople also took part in this project) and it is currently in development stage (alpha version). The work was huge because the first step of the development consisted in reproducing a software which has the same behavior than the original simulator, and which used its databases.After that, came the second step which was to make make the new simulator compatible with all the third party add-on developed throughout the years by the passionnate users. This makes it possible to use sceneries, aircraft and plugins available on the different websites.Thus, the core software is centered on the Cessna 172 (from TRI) which was set to work as well as possible. Other aircraft can be easily adapted and we hope that a strong cooperation from the community to help us in this task.Today, the software is operational, but the intial project evolved: the idea is now to make the software independant from Fly! II, in order to allow a majority of users to take part in this project. For this purpose, the migration to SQL databases was made possible.It is therefore important to keep in mind that bugs may remain and that some features have not yet been developed. This is why we need a maximum of volunteers to help us complete this task.Currently, some essential data (7-8 files) from Fly! II are still required, but we are working to remove those last dependencies.Those tempted by the project can help us using various skills: C++ development, 3D objects designing, user interface, and so on... The whole Fly.Simvol website has actually been completely redesigned. Here is a preview of the new features:_ new design: the style of the website has been refreshed and get new colors_ new home page_ new menu: more modern and useful_ RSS flow_ adding of a "Team" page (merge between the "Authors" and "Contact" page): introduce all the Fly.Simvol members (current and former) _ adding of a "Congress" page: introduce all the Congress and allow the download of the reports_ removal of the Links page_ removal of the Trombino: it will be replaced later by a new section_ removal of the "Weather observations" page_ merge of the lastest news and archives _ use of several Javascript libraries (jQuery), what we call WEB 2.0: menu, news, images viewer, tooltip...In spite of weeks of work, some Fly! Hello,I use CH yoke and pedal, and it works well on FlyLegacy with windows 7One of the possible solutions might be: - I suppose the axes are assigned via the menu options -> setup axis menu.- In the menu options -> test controls: move the slider "neutral slightly to activate the axises.- The mixture is reversed: I need to pull back the mixture on the CH yoke to have it open in the simulator.Hope this helps,Frank D

Hello,The development team could reproduce the problem, identified the errors, and has a patch for it. I've tested the patch and it solves the engine cut-off, also the Cessna reacts again much better on the Yoke and rudder controls.Patch will soon (don't know the exact time) be ready for download.Best Regards,Frank D

Indeed, we have published a new version 0.6.5.1 which brings important new features, as the Cessna 172 HD, the virtual pilot, a more realistic flight model but also, Fly! Legacy is now totally independent, it is not necessary anymore to have Fly! II.http://fly.simvol.org/indexus.php

Stephane,I have tried to download the FLY Legacy about 12 times or so. Each time the download halts at about 95%. I have tried probably 5 or 6 different methods and browsers, and each time is the same. Is there an issue, or am I missing something?

I tried the download and everything is OK for me, maybe it was a temporary problem to your side.I propose you to download again our software in a few hours and if the problem persists, I'll see with you another solution.

Be warned there is a problem with the installer that can cause it to make changes to the Visual C++ Redistributables 2008 and adversely affect FSX.I had to make a System Restore to recover - uninstalling didn't work.See http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21366

I just answered to this post.Actually, the installer doesn't check the presence of the VC2008 librairies, this is a mistake.I contacted the developers and this problem will be fixed in the next version.As long as it's not fixed, if you know that you have the librairies installed, ignore this installation and close the window of the VC2008 redistribuable when it appears.

I too am getting interrupted downloads toward the end... have tried 3 times to download now.
