September 7, 201015 yr Today I watched some YouTube videos of real world circling approaches to LOWI 08. They all seem relatively "easy" with "plenty" of ground clearance. This is quite the opposite to what I experience in FSX (and FS9): When doing the same circling approach in the sim, I have the impression to touch the mountains each second, and my planes (payware, like Fokker 70/100, PMDG's 737NG,...) seem to way harder turn than their real world counterparts. My subjective feeling is that their turn radii are bigger and so the valley of Innsbruck becomes a dreadful and narrow tube. This isn't the only situation where I have the impresiion of big turn radii. How realistic do the simmed (payware) planes turn after all? Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. September 9, 201015 yr Turn radius is dependent on speed. Be sure you are slowed down and manually flying the plane. Most AP's limit the bank angle which also limits your turn radius. I don't have any problem banking with FS planes. Jay
September 9, 201015 yr Author I too don't have "bank problems".The question is: Is the turn radius of e.g. the LDS 767 as narrow/wide as in the real plane? In other words: If I fly a 360 degree circle with a certain speed at a certain altitude with a payware airliner in FSX, is the radius of this circle the same as if a real world plane would fly the same procedure under the same prerequesites? September 9, 201015 yr Moderator IF the flight characteristics of the specific model have been created correctly, yes it will. As far as any specific aircraft, you'd have to ask the developer(s). My guess is it would be very close, if not spot on.Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
September 10, 201015 yr I think the problem is field of view in FS that makes you feel you are much closer to obstacles than you really are.scott s..
