September 11, 201015 yr If you wouldn't mind, please refresh my memory. If I have a USA wide landclass and some of my individual sceneries have landclass files themselves, then the landclass with the highest priority, (the lowest number), in the same area wins...right? Please advise and thanks!Mark

September 11, 201015 yr Mark,Are you looking at the scenery library screen in FS or the scenery cfg file? It makes a difference because they are numbered opposite, On the FS screen highest priority is at the top, in the scenery config file highest priority is at the bottom.
September 11, 201015 yr Mark,Should be easy enough to test. With both landclasses active take some screenshots of the area in question. (I typically save a few flights named 01,02, etc. to easily return to the same view). Turn off the local landclass and return to the area. Compare what you see vs.your screenshots. ... in the scenery config file highest priority is at the bottom.Due respect, the highest priority is the [Area.nn] with the highest Layer=nn, regardless of it's physical position in the scenery.cfg.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
September 11, 201015 yr Mark,Due respect, the highest priority is the [Area.nn] with the highest Layer=nn, regardless of it's physical position in the scenery.cfg.regards,JoeYou will also see that in the scenery.cfg file that entries are sorted according to the Area.nnn number. Area.001 Default Terrain is the first numbered entry in the .cfg file but it is actually has the lowest priority and yes it is the lowest Layer number.
September 11, 201015 yr Author Thanks Guys! Thought so...but wanted to make sure of what I was seeing so I could run down a funky looking area around Salinas. Mr. Skorna...thanks. By the way, I use a little app which I fudged together that keeps my Scenery.cfg file organized. It renumbers and re-layers it starting with the first [Area.xxx] section it finds all the way down to the last [Area.xxx] section it finds. So I might have a thousand [Area.xxx] sections in my scenery.cfg file but looking at the actual text file with notepad, the last [Area.xxx] section found will have the largest Layer=number, the largest [Area.xxx] number, and the highest priority. The highest priority can also be thought of as the scenery that takes precedent over all other sceneries with the exception of terrain mesh. Mesh is used/prioritized by the best resolution found anywhere the sim looks for files. It's no wonder I get confused sometimes...Mark
September 12, 201015 yr " By the way, I use a little app which I fudged together that keeps my Scenery.cfg file organized""And very useful it is too. I've been using it for a couple of weeks, having divided my scenery.cfg files into 4 geographical areas, to renumber them when I add a new scenery alphabetically to 1 country/area.Thank you very much.Colin B
