October 18, 201015 yr Has anyone got any strong advice as to a choice between an i7-950 @ 3.02 GHz and an i7-960 @ 3.20GHz? I assume that the latter will give me slightly (?) better performance, but I would have to pay an extra £240 sterling for the privilege. Anyone able to say what difference I might notice in FS9 (and FSX, though I fly mostly FS9)? At the moment I am unconvinced I should pay so much extra, especially if all I gain is an increase, say, from 30fps to 33..Thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)

October 18, 201015 yr Author That's why I didn't go for the 960 first time round. Is it easy to OC the 950 myself (it came overclocked last time) - I suppose I'd invalidate the warranty?? (I'd have to check on that).Does the 960 have other benefits over the 950 though, other than clock speed (???)Thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)

If you are running your 950 @ 4GHz you should have playable FPS with FSX...Dexter... October 19, 201015 yr Author Thank you. One more question though. If I leave the i7-950 clocked at the standard 3.02GHz, what will the variation in these values be when the CPU is in turbo mode (which is active by default, no?). Is there any need to set the minimum 'turbo' value to 100% in the BIOS, so that the cores run at maximum capacity all the time (or have I not understood correctly)? Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
