Scenery manager?

Featured Replies

Hello,I am still using Fs-9 and for that I still make use of Rana's Flight Simulator Manager.Ok... that program is obsolete but still performs some tricks I really appreciate. So is the main attraction for me the possibility to create 'scenery-zones' which can be activated or deactivated witch a mouseclick when flying in that zone or not.Now I was wondering if there is such a program that can do the same thing but then for Flight Simulator X?I can of course start creating different scenery.cfg's but that's a bit of a hassle so it would be much easier that a program (be it payware or not) can take care of this. All suggestions welcomeLuc BrusselmansBelgium

Hello Addit Pro for FSX will do this, you can select multiple sceneries and disable with one clickIt is even easier if you have them grouped by area.

Are there any freeware alternatives?
Wiltzei,so far I haven't found one yet.On the other hand, until now I haven't found that Addit Pro can do wgat I want.I am still struggling with the manual which is far from clear.I haven't been able to form 'groups' or area's in which I can bring together addon's of a same geogrphical region...I did succeed in messing up my scenery.cfg for sure and even managed to remove files from my harddisk (which I didn't want). So, back to the manual (a manual in PDF from would be nice...)Luc BrusselmansBelgium

Hello LucPM me if you need any help.Basically it is pretty straight forward to organise the sceneries by areasJust select a scenery to move and use the move up /move down buttons to move and group your sceneries by country or region.select a scenery > press the shift key > select the last scenery in the group you wish to disable.Right click on the sceneries and select disableSelect yes to disable the groupHope that helps

Mad Dog,thanks for the help. However, that is not what I try to accomplish. If I start moving those files around, it messes up the numbering. Out of experience I know that, when the number of addon's grows, the possiblility of a serious corruption in the scenery.cfg leeds to an unstable Fs-X.So I rather would try to avoid moving those area's.What I would like to do is create a group of (scenery)addon's that are situated in the same geographical region (Europe for instance)Give that group a name and activate (deactivate) that group with one mouseclick.I have been in contact with the developper yesterday and he confirmed that such an option is not available and he also confirmed that the option you suggest is the only (but flawed) possiblilty. But even so I want to buy this product because of the numerous possiblilities there are.In the mean time I will work with different scenery.cfg files which I can rename. It's a bit of a hassle but it will do for now.ThanksLuc BrusselmansBelgium

Hello LucYou may like to try FS Scenery Manager 1.7 which has an FSX version nowThis is a very comprehensive scenery manager which should be able to do what you are looking for. Here is a section from the manual detailing the use of scenery sets.Forumhttp://forum.simflight.com/forum/18-fs-scenery-manager-support-forum/Downloadhttp://www.flightxtreme.com/old.htm

Mad Dog,I owe you one....This fsScenery manager does exactly what I want, even if it's another way of doing things in comparison with the original Flightsim Manager of Rana.In this case, the program creates a new scenery.cfg when changing regions but that is not a problem.Whenever you want to visit Belgium, come and see me.. I owe you big time. Thanks and happy flyingLuc BrusselmansBelgium
