October 28, 201015 yr Would anyone be able to help me please regarding how to turn and stop in a float plane ! Rudder has hardly any effect and braking does nothing. Another question.... is there a way of stopping my Aerosoft Twotter from speeding of down the runway without me having touched the throttle. I have a couple of payware planes that seem to set to start rolling immediately rather than remaining stationary until throttled up.Appreciate any help.Regards
October 28, 201015 yr I'm not too terribly knowledgable with float planes, but there is no way to brake per se....all about naturally slowing down. To turn, most planes have a water rudder! Now, I'm not sure of FSX's default controls, so maybe check SETTINGS (or OPTIONS) > CONTROLS I think (don't have FSX up at the moment) and scroll down to see what the key combo is for "Water Rudder".As for the creeping along on the runway, you may need to change your null zone (or dead zone) for your throttle axis. It seems that FSX is not recognizing that you are at 0% throttle. You can do it through Windows' control panel, or via the above listed path in FSX. I hope this helps! Image Coming... October 28, 201015 yr The Aerosoft Twin Otter does not have water rudders, which means that you will need to adjust the two throttles to steer. To slow down, remember to use reverse thrust (on land or water). Mike Mann
October 28, 201015 yr Lol.... there's no brakes silly goose!Larger aircraft would have some sort of beta range or reverse pitch, but smaller ones you'll just be letting physics slow you down.However, most have water rudder, shift+w or shift+q can't remember - you'll have to check it out under controls. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 28, 201015 yr The FSX command to raise or lower the water rudder is CTRL+W. This will not work if he is going to try this in the Aerosoft Twotter, which of coarse has no water rudder!! This aircraft is a turbo prop aircraft so press and hold the F2 key after landing to engage reverse thrust. Mike Mann
September 25, 201411 yr i know this is an old 2014 topic but some noobs like myself are still reading this and find it usefull and noobs do call reverse thrust as brakes ..
