What Video Card to buy.......FS9?

Featured Replies

I am in the process of going from a crappy 64 MB video card to something else. I want at least 128 MB. What is the difference between GE Force and Radeon?? I have seen 256 MB Ge Force 5600 FX for about the same ($125)as 128 MB Ultra Ge Force 5600 FX. What are some good ones within the price range? Is there a reason why one has more MB's and is about the same price as the one with less? Any input would be great@!

Hii Friend,I had the same situation for my new PC.Deciasion was very hard...First installed ATI 9600 , Not happy at all. Then ordered Nvidia chipset GeForce FX5600 , Not satisfiedThen I ordered Reliable Manufacturer made GeForce FX 5600 UltraSo far I got the best ..Of course there are may be better ones but you should raise up yr budget..RgdsHasan

My Radeon 9600 256MB is the best buy I have made for a long time. I changed from a GF3Ti200 64MB and the difference is marked. It was actually cheaper than the 9600 Pro.What has really boosted it now is the Omega driver 2.4.96. This has better performance but more critically it opened my overclocking facility and instead of the 324/200 setting I am now running the 9600 at 425/216 and seeing significant performance benefits. The default Cessna (spot view) at SEA with most settings maxed except for autogen at very dense but scattered clouds (but max cloud setting) is pushing 35-37fps and high level flight is averaging 60-65fps at same settings! In dense clouds it maintains 17-20fps while close to clouds and 40fps at a distance. Of course I lock it at 24fps. Really amazing!ShezXP1900768MB RAM

I've not ever seen a 256 9600. Where'd you get yours? While I'm sure I couldn't pay for it myself, my dad does owe me some money hehe...

I bought the Top of the line Radeon ATI ..I forget the model about a month ago... and It just didn't work properly... it was terrible.I returned it it and got the top of the line GeoForce 256.... for about $500.It did good.don't know..if it was worth the $500 bucks though..You may not need the top of the line,. I am beginning to think.. you could get the previous one or two version for less than half that price and still do good.

If you can afford the radeon 9800 pro. GET IT!

Right now dollar for dollar in the $150-$200 Market your two options are the geforce fx 5600 pro (There are two versions if your getting one get the newer 5600 pro version) and then there is the radeon 9600 pro (If you can get your hands on a 9500 pro get that instead.. more piplines.... its faster in most if not all cases than the 9600 pro) ATI had to pull it from the market because they werent making money from it. The cost to make it was too high.. great performance though. They are both 128 megs .. i dont think you need more than that and do not get anything unless it says pro or ultra. (unless youre into overclocking.. and mileage on that varies alot)My personal preference are the Radeon 9500/9600 pro cards ... looks better in fs and performs better when put to the test in anti aliasing. It also doesnt have that Geforce FX direct x controversy baggage thats going around. Added to that it performs faster than the geforce fx 5600 ultra in alot of benchmarks. However what most people dont realize that your mileage varies greatly depending on who manufactures the graphics board. My suggestion.. if your going ATI ... BUY ATI or "Built by ATI" .. not chips supplied by ATI slapped onto another board. If your going Geforce FX 5600 ultra... you will have to select among various board manufacturers.. Hercules and Asus are big picks among gamers .. but you may want to look around a bit.

Hii , What about Evga made FX5600 Ultra ??

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro and really love it. Upgraded from a Ti4200 and have seen really outstanding performance gains and beautiful visuals. Check out E-bay or on-line before buying. Comp USA will rip you off.
