ATC configuration question

Featured Replies

=Hello, Can you please help me?When climbing FSX ATC always clears me to next FL only some 200 feet before I reach current assigned FL. This makes me to level off only to start climbing again (in B737) 4 or 5 times until I reach cruise altitude. This is both time consuming and reduces my flying experience on short flights. Is there a way how to modify this so instead of 200 feet I get the call from ATC to climb to next FL sooner? Some 800 or 1200 feet before assigned FL?I was searching around this forum and googled a lot without any luck. Your help would be much appreciated. smile.gif

this is how FS works.you can research and purchase a ATC addon for FS. these ATC addon are much more 'real-world' than FS's.--

Just get Radar Contact and be done with it...

why dont you just set it to your final altitude? therefore when your approaching the current assigned altitude they will clear you to your next assigned altitude and then just continue climbing without leveling off. thats what i do

I do something similar. When I am told by ATC to fly to FL 230 I set on my MCP FL 250 and than wait for the call from ATC. However if the ATC is occupied(talking to someone else) and I go past FL 230, first I am advised to descend to FL230 only than I can climb again. Otherwise I get "ATC services terminated", something I am trying also to avoid wink.gif

I was hoping to get more flight time before switching to RC4(I heard it requires more skill). But yes this for sure will be logical step in the future. Although the voices in default ATC do sound better. Also I would like to find MeatWater RC4 VOCPACK demostration video.

Yes I have that one. I have speed up the voices. Its fantastic especially on and around airports. Its funny I was just at their forum as well and Lars told me that the modification that I am looking for just can not be done with default ATC. Loosing hope Sigh.gif

I find the very same problem frustrating. I have tried various things with the default ATC, as you have, but finally, I just set my autopilot to 500 ft above what ATC clears me to, and this usually gets me by. And remember, keep adjusting your baro pressure (B key) as if this is out, then you will also get IFR cancellation notifications.Chris David

I do the same, I only have an issue when ATC changes frequencies right at the point of the altitude clearance would be given. This allows me to reset the ALT to the assigned altitude, before I change freq, to keep ATC happy. Else I'm able to maintain a smooth and steady climb profile.

Thanks

Well, I own Pro Flight Emulator, as well as RC4 and I must say: RC4 is easier to use and more user friendly. If you know a bit about ATC and aviation you'll be airborne in no time. I can't imagine flying without RC4. Love it.
