November 14, 201015 yr Hello people,I have been looking at FSCommander recently. The moving map seems very useful and a fun thing to have, and also the flightplanner looks good. However, already having FSBuild and vroute, I was wondering whether FSCommander is worth buying. What do you think of it? Is it a good program? November 14, 201015 yr Author It indeed looks very good, but it is of no use to me: it's apparently for FSX only. Still, thanks for the recommendation. November 15, 201015 yr You have to add your own charts, maps etc. What a daunting task.No you don't, the Aivlasoft EFB charts are procedurally generated from the Navigraph data you have installed, be that the old data that comes supplied with the product or any current data that you purchase yourself. Please be very careful what you say about a product on a forum as misinformation can damage a products reputation. Cheers, Andy.
November 15, 201015 yr Benjamin, for my flightplanning and monitoring purposes I have FSBuild, Vroute Premium, FSCommander 8.7 and FSNavigator 4.7. Ealier I used FSBuld as my flightplanner of choice and FSNaviagator as the moving map but for the last year or so I've switched to the Vroute/FSCommander combo. I find these two programs especially useful since I do all my flights on VATSIM and Vroute has a host of features geared towards us Vatsim users. As for FSCommander, I have always thought that FSCommander has had a slicker interface but FSCommander has some for me compelling advantages (besided still being developed..), namely that I can run it on a second computer using WideFS and that it shows VATSIM traffic. On the ground I find it extremely useful to have the airport layout and the taxiways easily distinguishable (spelled correctly?). And eg before I connect to VATSIM it's easy to verify that your chosen gate isn't occupied by another aircraft. So, I don't use FSCommander as a flightplanning tool but simply as a moving map and as such it is fanstastic. If in doubt regarding frequencies or if you wonder whether you actually are gonna cross that ILS on your current heading, it is indespensable. I don't have FSCommander 9 but looking at the new feature list I doin't see any compelling reason to buy it except for showing support! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
November 16, 201015 yr Author So I ended up getting FSCommander 9. I never knew a moving map would bring such fun. I think i made a good choice. With so much information at my fingertips (literally, since I use it on a secondary computer, linked to FS via WideFS), everything ahs really become a lot easier quite suddenly. I thank those that responded for their feedback!
