November 15, 201015 yr I'm suddenly experiencing a problem with maintaing the key board assignments I've made for the 737/all models. Lately, on rebooting my machine, all the assignments have reverted to the default ones instead of keeping the custom ones I have made. Since I've had the 737 for quite a while now, I don't understand why this is happening. It's a pain to have to reassign everything again. I'm using the PMDG assignment applet for accomplishing this, not FSUIPC nor the FS9 assignment applet.System is XP and I do have FSUIPC (registered). This did not happen before. I would appreciate any help to correct the wiping out of my assignments. Thanks,Jim Dow
November 16, 201015 yr Author Well, on further examination, the settings reset to default not when I reboot, but when I exit and return to FS9. Again, this did not occur before and I'm a little frustrated. Am I missing something in the setup of the 737? I've owned it for a long time and never had this happen before.Still seeking an answer.Jim Dow
November 16, 201015 yr Jim,Did anything (software etc) change in your system lately?Did you ever save a backup copy of your 737Kbd.ini?Check your 737Kbd.ini file properties and see when (date/time) it was last updated. With MSFS9.1 and PMDG 737 loaded.Minimize FS9.1 Open 737Kbd.ini file with NotepadVerify and remember one of the assignments.Close the 737Kbd.ini fileMaximize FS9.1Using PMDG menu in FS9.1 top Menu barDelete the one PMDG assignment and then click the CLOSE button. The ini file should now already be updated (saved)!Minimize FS9.1 Open 737Kbd.ini file with NotepadDid the assignment get deleted?Check your 737Kbd.ini file properties and see when (date/time) it was last updated. November 16, 201015 yr It is a good idea to delete a key assignment from MSFS if that key is assigned in the pmdg options keycommands. Dan Downs KCRP
November 16, 201015 yr Author Vaughn,Thanks for the suggestion. I did what you outlined but the ini file does not update. Even without exiting FS9 after making a change in the keyboard assignment, on returning to FS9 the assignment has reset itself to the default. And there is no recent changes to my software that I am aware of. But I haven't used the 737 for a few weeks, so I can't say for sure when this problem occurred. The latest change entry is for 11/04/10 and this stays constant even though I made a change in assignments. Dan,I've checked the FS9 key assignment applet and there is no conflict.Hope that we can find an answer.Jim Dow
November 16, 201015 yr Jim,I originally asked:** Did you ever save a backup copy of your 737Kbd.ini?** Check your 737Kbd.ini file properties and see when (date/time) it was last updated. Was this the 11-4-10 properties?** Make a backup copy of the ini file.** Also, check properties and see the 3 dates , last created, modified, accessed .. what are they? Then delete the ini file from the folder.Did it delete ok?Start fs/pmdgMinimixe FSsee if ini file is still deleted? November 16, 201015 yr Author Vaughan,I made a back-up of the ini file. The properties showed the following: created: 10/06/07 Modified: 11/04/10 Accessed: 11/16/10I deleted the file, restarted FS9/PMDG and rechecked the PMDG file and the keyboard ini file was not present.Do I now try to rebuild the file? Thanks for the help.Jim Dow
November 16, 201015 yr Jim,Good so far.Now do only one assignment like open Px door CTRL+SHFT+F4CLOSEminimize FSSee if ini was created?Use Notepad and verify your 1 assignment is present.Close Notepad. No other assignments should be present at this time. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW

I even exited FS9 and relaunched and the rebuilt ini stayed intact as I had programmed it.Any idea as to what may have caused the problem? Thank you for the help. Jim D.
