November 26, 201015 yr In my case I only use three external FSX changes-1. Highmemfix trick (I believe makes FSX more stable and less vulnerable to CTD etc, although still testing)2. Disable preload trick (makes load times much faster)3. And this external limiter (reduces the spikes for generally smother game play)
November 26, 201015 yr Author What is this disable preload trick? Havent heard from it before.I just discovered *******'s cfg configurator. After 2 flights i can say FSX became much smoother than it was Laszlo Meszaros

November 27, 201015 yr The FPS limiter hooks DirectX 9 dlls specifically to do what it does - it can't possibly work with DX10, a whole separate one would have to be made for DX10.I've actually never been able to even get it working with DX9 on my system, it fails to run... anyone seen that in Win7 x64? I assumed it had something to do with that... Hey there Ryan, how' ya been? ;)> Extract the program to your desktop or where you can easily get to it. Make a "FPS Limiter" Folder on your main drive. Put unrared/unzipped contents into your new FPS folder. Run the "FPS_Limiter_GUI" and.. Under settings choose D3D9 Set max FPS accordingly for your system (most likely 30 for that beast)AND set within FSX FPS to unlimited. THEN "search executable" to navigate to your "FSX.exe". After that look in the same folder you created for a file named "fsx.exe.limited". Drag to your desktop and run it - minimize it (do not close it) and off ya go. And be sure to disable UAC. November 27, 201015 yr Commercial Member I'll have to try the suggestions when I get back home guys - I'm up in Utah at my parents' place until Sunday. Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure nothing would happen when I ran the .bat file - it never actually loads FSX. I do have UAC on though, so maybe that's it.Btw guys - the DisablePreload=1 can cause some strange problems, mainly with the J41 because the default MS flight never gets loaded and certain things don't get initialized the way they should. You'll see strange stuff like all the control surfaces hanging down on the external model, problems with the avionics etc. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
November 27, 201015 yr Author You can find the rapidshare link in my previous post in this topic. Thats reallly safe no problem with it i have also downloaded from there Laszlo Meszaros
November 27, 201015 yr Btw guys - the DisablePreload=1 can cause some strange problems, mainly with the J41 because the default MS flight never gets loaded and certain things don't get initialized the way they should. You'll see strange stuff like all the control surfaces hanging down on the external model, problems with the avionics etc.I have to agree with Ryan on this one. It's safer to create and load on each FSX launch, a default flight utilizing one of FSX's default aircraft (typically the Cessna). In fact a lot of dvelopers will give you the same advice.Ryan,In case the external limiter still doesn't work for you, I found that right clicking on the .bat file that you create after running the GUI and selecting "Open" instead of double clicking on the file, works 100% of the time. Of course that's after you either turn off UAC or enable "run as administrator". Good luck! November 27, 201015 yr Author Thats what i was thinking about that maybe this can cause some problems. I think i stay with *******'s tweaks Laszlo Meszaros
November 29, 201015 yr Commercial Member Thanks a ton Randy and Dylan - the combination of your suggestions worked and I have it working now, didn't even have to turn off UAC either! Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
November 29, 201015 yr You don't need to bother with a batch file.Just create a shortcut to the limiter executable on your Desktop and append the path to your FSX.exe in quotation marks in the Destination line. It should look similar to this: D:\FPS_Limiter_0.2\FPS_Limiter.exe "D:\FSX\FSX.exe" "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory." - Leonard Nimoy ASUS Prime Z270-K/Intel i7 7700k @ 4.7GHz/be quiet! November 29, 201015 yr Or this http://www.vistaclues.com/run-a-batch-file-as-an-administrator/You can also set the shortcut to start minimized
