November 27, 201015 yr UAC stands for User Account Control which was a little Gem introduced in Windows VISTA, and carried over in W7. It requires that most changes and enhancements be run under an administrator account; probably a good idea except that it's wayyyyy to restrictive, and it's really easy to shut off. :Applause:Hello, maddog!I always get really scared whenever anybody says that . . . Hi there,Dear Chuck, you said that the shut off off the UAC is really easy, can you please tell me in a few words how? I'm trying to install a scenery and every time I get the same answer, "you are not allow to do this"and I"m getting a bit tired!!Thanks in advance for your help!Cub51
November 27, 201015 yr Author There are scores of unwrapped copies of XP Professional SP3 for sale on eBay - with the bidding process you should get one for around $50. I have definitely decided to go this route - it seems like the most likely way to get the best from FS9 without the frustration of trying to work through the Win 7 issues. Thanks for all the excellent input guys :(

MAKE SURE you can find all the XP SIXTY FOUR BIT drivers for all your hardware, and have them on a disk or useable USB flash drive!!!!!! Most of the time XP 64 will have them built in, or the Windows 7 disk will have W7 drivers that work in XP, but every once in a while it will be a problem. Without XP 64 drivers, your hardware (and even some of your software) may not work. You'lI need your USB or CD drivers first -- I completely forgot to take that into account when I first installed my new XP64, and was caught with my drivers down! November 27, 201015 yr Author Now I'm getting worried - fortunately my bid on eBay for Windows XP Pro SP3 was not successful! But none of the sellers lists whether it's 64 bit or 32 bit. If it is called Windows XP Pro SP2 does that mean it is 64 bit? I have also seen the term OEM used. I'm worried I'm going to make a bid on the wrong OS... Help!!!! :( I've been dreaming for years of having a system that could run FS9 full blast and I really don't want to screw this up..Thanks guys for all the help so far....Ian

November 27, 201015 yr Author HelloWindows XP Pro SP2 is 32bitSearch for Windows XP X64Okay, thanks - I will keep searching. I found one so far but it was really expensive.. When I see the term "Full" after the title of the OS is that a reference to being 64 bit or something else?
November 27, 201015 yr Hi,No, that is not what Full means because there was an upgrade version.Pro comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions. Here is a 64 bit version:http://topoemsoftware.net/shop/item/323/

When I see the term "Full" after the title of the OS is that a reference to being 64 bit or something else?HelloThere are "Full" and OEM versions, OEM versions are meant to be installed and validated on one machine and are locked to that particular hardware .In practice OEM versions can be reinstalled on different hardware after a period of time has passed (90 days).Full versions have no such restrictions and are normally more expensive.XP64 usually goes for more than Windows 7 on Ebay at least here in the uk.This is what you are looking forhttp://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dsporting&field-keywords=Windows+xp+professional+x64&x=4&y=28

That way on the off chance you get the wrong disk you are covered by eBay's buyer protection plan and you can get your money back no problem. Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. November 29, 201015 yr Author Thanks friends. I really appreciate all the good advice. Doing this on my own would have been a total disaster! Now I know exactly what I am looking for and hopefully will be able to install it without any serious problems. Of course, if I do, I'll be back here whining and asking for help! :(
