August 1, 201114 yr With your next upgrade get a Z-board and Intel 311 20 Gb SSD, and install FSX on a HDD with SSD cache. You get fast loading, and don´t have to worry about when the "expensive 120 Gb SSD you bought for FSX" is full! http://www.anandtech.com/show/4329/intel-z68-chipset-smart-response-technology-ssd-caching-review/2
August 2, 201114 yr For all of the hassle, might be good 'nuf. I will def get an SSD for my next machine. What is the fasting total SSD solution, what sort of interface? I would imagine transfer rates for SSD drives must be in part related to the connection type to the mainboard. Are they a lot quicker, higher bandwidth over SATA HDD's? Sorry for late reply. I recommend the following site for SSD reviews and informations: http://thessdreview.com

August 8, 201114 yr I found the large drop was caused by the image globe files that render your far vision in the sim. Since i run a weather addon that limits my visibility to 50miles I just disabled those files since i cant see what they render anyway. That eliminated the large fps drop at one minute. How did you disable those files? Cheers, Bryn. Streaming at twitch.tv/brynmwr
August 9, 201114 yr How did you disable those files? Cheers, Bryn. I disabled them by renaming them. They are in your Scenery/World/Scenery file. I renamed them"image globe 00.bgl.disable", but you can rename them anything you like. This way if you ever want them back, just rename back to their original names by simply deleting disable in my example.
