Autopilot "Autoland" on NAV2 (2)

Featured Replies

Hello All -----Been having some fun fixing up an old plane I enjoy flying (under FSX) and have loaded it up with dual NAV-COMs. I have set up the NAVs showing all "one" flags as below....Nav.1=1, 1, 1 Nav.2=1, 1, 1Both units have full ILS capability (manual) and there is no problem doing automated approaches using NAV.1 as usual. What I have been unsucsessful at doing is using NAV.2 for the same purpose. Is this the default for FSX?? If it is, then what I am seeing is normal. My NAV.2 has a full localizer/glide slope gauge on it, and works fine for flying manual approaches, but only NAV.1 will fly an automated approach. What say out there ILS veterans???? Many Thanks --- Bob ---- Big%20Grin.gif

Autopilot ILS is typically tied to NAV1.

Hello Bert -----First, thanks much for the response. It is always nice to get some verification of what you THINK is the case Big%20Grin.gif so your comment is much appreciated.I have always used NAV.1 as my primary do-it-all ILS radio system. Had just never tried, after all these years on MSFS, to use NAV.2 to actually fly an automated ILS approach. Thanks again --- Bob --- :(

Wish I could remember which aircraft has the NAV1/NAV2 select switch. I know that I have it somewhere and use my GoFlight module AP to carry out ILS approaches on either NAV1 or NAV2, but nothing in my fleet has an autoland capability.M.

Very Best Wishes,

Dr T. Maurice Murphy
