December 15, 201015 yr Hi guys. This is not really a PMDG problem, although it does happen when flying PMDG aircraft, but I'd rather post here, because I know a lot of people here and you guys feel like friends. :( Anyone know what this is and why it happens? I get it at many airports on the ground, or on the side of a hangar/terminal building. It is a total realism killer, and very frustrating! Before i post the video, I have to make a disclaimer, because unfortunaltely, at times, certain people will tear you up over the slightest things. So... I know that AA doesn't fly 757s with PW engines. I know my spoilers are extended. I was actually getting 30 FPS in-sim, but I used a freebie screen recorder with a terrible recording rate. Also the resolution is really crappy in the video, but it is not that way in RL.Okay, so here you go. FYI: This is FSX, default airport (don't you love those grass textures!:( ) REX isn't active at the time of the video.VideoThanks! Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)

December 15, 201015 yr Author Also, the video link takes you to my photo bucket account. Please feel free to look around. I am currently uploading some more FSX screen shots as we speak. I am going to try to constantly update this with lots of fs screenies! I am in the process of organizing around 400 screenshots into different albums. Then they will be available on photobucket. December 15, 201015 yr Commercial Member Nope. I'm not the biggest on tweaks/settings within the config, but I know there's some relation between it and graphics, so I thought I'd ask. From here, I'm completely worthless as far as troubleshooting goes. Sorry. Kyle Rodgers

December 15, 201015 yr Add-on airport? try playing with the mesh values as add-ons are layered slightly above the default. It looks like there are two textures fighting to be displayed.EDIT: I should learn to read properly :D - default airport.Did you load REX taxi / runway textures before? not sure how to disable them for troubleshooting. December 15, 201015 yr Author Did you load REX taxi / runway textures before? not sure how to disable them for troubleshooting.Thank you for your reply, but I dont know what this means?Rex was disabled at the time of the screenshot, although, that just means that the weather was disabled, because the rex runway/taxi textures replaced my default textures.I dont think this is a REX issue though, because I get it some places, sometimes, and then others it is fine. Also this will happen to the sides of buildings or ATC towers. Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
December 15, 201015 yr Commercial Member Are you sure they replaced the defaults? It looks to me like there is a conflict. At first, I was thinking that there was an AFCAD issue because the flickering in the runway texture seems to be the AFCADs "fighting" to be displayed, but you said it's the default airport and you also said it would do it to the towers/buildings, too, which the AFCAD doesn't determine (just taxiway, ramp, runway and fence locations). It almost looks like instead of AFCADs, the textures are fighting as if they weren't actually deleted/overwritten.Are you on windows 7? December 15, 201015 yr If you have previously loaded REX runways they'll still be in fsx.Other than maxing the mesh resolution and complexity, I'm not sure what to suggest. Chris Farrell
December 15, 201015 yr Author If you have previously loaded REX runways they'll still be in fsx. That is what I was saying when I said that the rex textures overwrote my fsx textures. The only way to turn them "off" would be to revert back to the default fsx textures.Other than maxing the mesh resolution and complexity, I'm not sure what to suggest. They are maxed already. Thanks for trying to help! I greatly appreciate it. Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)

I thought it might be a glitch with the default afcad so that is why I checked. It is still weird why it is at some airports and not at others. I have designed my own afcads for certain airports, and they all show up fine. I have quite a few addon sceneries installed both freeware (afcad only) and payware (afcad and textures/models) and certain show up fine and certain other ones show up "flashy". Default airports do the same. I can be at OKC and have it be flashy as heck, and then go to TUL and have it be perfectly fine. I don't have addon scenery for either of these airports. Thanks for your help! Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
