December 23, 201015 yr I would really like to have FSX cycle views (via my X52 'top hat') just like FS2004: 2D cockpit, VC, Spot, Tower. I would also rather eliminate views I dislike/never use from the cycle - mainly the top-down view and locked spot, but to have the views cycle the same as in FS9 would be ideal. Is this possible? I don't seem to be able to set this up for 'S' or 'A' keys.. can anyone help? Thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 23, 201015 yr I use a CH yoke and the views cycle with the two left buttons on the left side of the yoke, by default. I would imagine you can assigne them to your stick if the default setup isnt working. Jay
December 23, 201015 yr Is this possible? I don't seem to be able to set this up for 'S' or 'A' keys.. can anyone help? The 'S'key Groups are defined, of course in the shared Cameras.cfg and individual Aircraft.cfg "Catagory" parameters:Category = CockpitCategory = OutsideCategory = TowerCategory = RunwayCategory = AirTrafficCategory = MultiPlayerCategory = AircraftCategory = Custom (not used anywhere in default definitions)Category = Scenery (not used anywhere in default definitions)It would seem that the definition order determines what comes before or after when cycling the 'A' key.And "CycleHidden=Yes" parameter keeps the camera from appearing when cycling among them. Hidden cameras can be reached through the menu system. I include this in my 'Spot' view also.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
December 24, 201015 yr Author I'll have to experiment editing these files a little. Thanks. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 24, 201015 yr I do this for the tower view, only removes it from the S key cycle, stops those nasty blurrys while you mash the view key, you can still select it from the menuin your Camera.cfg, enter the bold parts [CameraDefinition.007]Title = Nearest TowerGuid = {60BC0819-BD04-4AF6-8954-8FC8AA3545FF}Description = This is the description of the tower view.Origin = TowerSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FalsePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FalseTrack = TrackShowAxis = NoAllowZoom = YesInitialZoom = 8.0SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = FALSETransition = NoShowLensFlare=FALSECategory = TowerClipMode = TowerNoSortTitle = TrueCycleHidden = True[CameraDefinition.008]Title = Facilities TowerGuid = {AA8C80C0-9EE2-4284-A1C2-B20CD3F5F3D9}Description = This is the description of the tower view.Origin = FixedInstancedBased = YesSnapPbhAdjust = NonePanPbhAdjust = NoneTrack = TrackShowAxis = NoAllowZoom = YesInitialZoom = 8.0SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = FALSETransition = NoShowLensFlare=FALSECategory = TowerCycleHideRadius = 7ClipMode = TowerCycleHidden = True
December 26, 201015 yr Author I can't fathom this at all. I edited the camera.cfg file as suggested, but even if I first completely remove the camera.cfg file from the FSX folder and then delete all the camera configuration paragraphs from the aircraft.cfg file, I still can't predict what view I am going to get next when I press 'S' in FSX - for instance, I still get Tower view, which is a close-up of a tree at the moment. There must be some way to set FSX to get the same (predictable) views as in FS9?? (or maybe not...).M. :-) Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)

Any cfg in the FSX INSTALL folder is the back up and will NOT change what you see. Edit the correct one.If you delete the active one, FSX will replace it with the backup from the install folder.extra-credit reading:My camera tutorialLoyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
December 26, 201015 yr To cycle the views with the top hat switch on my x52pro I do this. Settings/controls/ Buttons & Switches/views. Scroll down to VIEW (next catagory) S key. Click change assignment and press hat switch to the Right. (button 21) Click yes to accept. Scroll down to VIEW (previous catagory) Shift+S key. Press hat switch to the left. (button 23) Click yes to accept. I get VC - fixed spot - tower view. That's all, and can change very quickly by flicking the hat switch either way. It's that long ago, I can't for the life of me remember what I altered in the camera cfg. just to get the three views I wanted, sorry.Russell.
December 26, 201015 yr Author I'll have a go - I also use an X52. I have edited the camera.cfg file in the main FSX folder! Didn't realise there's another one - just like the scenery.cfg file... Will report back. Thanks again.M Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 27, 201015 yr Author Now that I am editing the right file (!!), this is working much better. I have re-programmed the assignemnets to my X52 too. Thanks again for the information everyone. The only thing that I can't seem to get rid of is the "aircraft view" - Left Wing, Right Wing and Tail views. I have added the line "CycleHidden=Yes" (odd that some entires have " = Yes/No" and others " = True/False") to all the paragraphs in the AppData version of camera.cfg apart from cockpit, virtual cockpit and spot views, and this works, but I still get the 'aircraft view' appearing. Anyone know how to delete this one last unwanted view? Do I have to edit anything in the aircraft.cfg too?Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 27, 201015 yr Aircraft category are TYPICALLY the ones in the aircraft.cfg files, BUT I have scenery, custom and cockpit categories in the aircraft configs also. Camera views must be removed from aircraft.cfg's individually - a backup is recommended in case you change your mind.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
