SP2 install issue

Featured Replies

I have googled all over and cannot seem to find a solution.I just got a new HDD, installed my RTM copy of FSX and went to the connect website to get my product key and found that FSX was no more and hence no more keys.SOO i went to the local Wal-Mart and purchased FSX all over again, I uninstalled the RTM version and installed directly to my C:\ drive as C:\FSX....Everything went fineinstalled SP1 no problems...opened the SP2 msi file and get this error you see in the attachment.I ran the sim after sp1, then tried a reboot..etc nothing works. The EXE shows to be updated to SP1.Any ideas?

Two questions, what ver of fsx did you get, the gold i believe has accelerationb and already has sp2 included, otherwise what operating system are you using, if vista or win 7, fsx should be installed on c:/fsx not in programme files. in fact you are better off partioning your drive and installing fsx on it own partion it reduces the fragmentaion over time. c drive always gets fragmented due to all the temp files windows creates.

Gary,Did you start FSX after installing RTM and then again after installing SP1? If not that might be the reason why SP2 installer won't work.

I had the same problem and fixed it by installing the SP 2 by hand. It´s a little bit tricky and long lasting, but at the end everything went well. If you want, I can give you some instructions, how to do it.

Best regards, Steffen

I have a friend who is interested in FS.If he decides to do it is FS Gold something new with acceleration and SP2?Or does he get FS Deluxe then SP1 SP2.Is SP1 needed or included in SP2?It has been awhile since I reinstalled and I use Acceleration. Thanks,Ron

If you use Deluxe, like I do, you have to have SP 1 installed prior to SP 2. If SP 1 isn´t installed, SP 2 will also fail to install.I would personally tell your friend, that he should get the Gold version, cause ther is the Acceleration included

Best regards, Steffen
