January 9, 201115 yr Well, I subscribed to a magazine that is specialized in aviation. The only thing it says about the Comac C919 is that, until December, a hundred C919 were sold to Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern, Hainan Airlines, CDB Leasing and GE Capital Aviation Services (Gecas). The design should be concluded by the end of 2010 (what means that it's done) an the tests should be finished by 2014. The first delivery is expected to take place in 2016."Comac was created over two years ago by the Chinese government in order to be able to compete with Boieng-Airbus duopoly. Today, the company has a bank stock of US$2.7 billion. This company also intends to create new aircraft models." Matheus Mafra
January 9, 201115 yr It looks like an A320 with a more rounded nose. Does anyone else think that might have anything to do with airbus building some in china? Same with the ARJ 21 which is built with tooling provided to china for the MD-90 trunkliner project yet marketed as been the first passenger jet to be developed by china itself. I will be very surprised if these aircraft see much use outside china or countrys closely tied to china.
January 9, 201115 yr Author There is a car made in china called the great wall and in australia it was voted the most unsafe by the local car mags.So i hope the aircraft works out better for them. January 9, 201115 yr Great walls ute has the same body design as my dads 6 year old holden Rodeo, just the front of the great wall looks like cheap plastic that has been melted into some odd shape.
January 9, 201115 yr It's an A320 with the B787 nose.Haha, agreed! Kind Regards, -Bas Tolsma The Netherlands
January 9, 201115 yr It's an A320 with the B787 nose. That's exactly what it looks like! Matheus Mafra
January 9, 201115 yr It's a product of Chinese reverse engineering just like this: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/12/03/mph-chinese-passenger-train-breaks-speed-record/ Philip Manhart :American Flag: - "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." ~ Plato
January 12, 201115 yr The A320 shape seems to be the generic shape of a small airliner these days. It's like everything is based upon it, sort of like a template or something. In my eyes the latest Russian short range airliner looks pretty much like the A320 too. Frank M
