Navigraph Cycle 1101 Problem

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a problem unzipping any of Navigraph's FMS files? I've been using PKWARE to unzip files with for years including Navigraph FMS files with no problems whatsoever until now. I had to extract the files using Windows Explorer instead of using PKWARE this time. I've had to restore to this on occasion to unzip files downloaded from PC Aviator's Download Store (though not EVERY time). Anyone else run into this problem (or knows what causes it)?

Since Navigraph is set up as an installer, why are you bypassing that? I can not think of a good reason to not use the installer that will place the files exactly where they need to be.

The installer exe's are downloaded in a zip wrapper...DJ

Actually, I'm NOT bypassing the installer! The problem, as DJ mentioned, is that the installer is contained in the zipped file. If you can't unzip the file, you can't get to the installer...Once "unzipped", on this occasion via Windows Explorer, the installer worked just fine putting the files where they need to be just as you say...

It may be that Navigraph is using a later version of the zip algorithm than your version of PKWare supports. I unzipped them with the current version of PKZip and had no problems...DJ

I unzip them with Windows Explorer's built-in zip functionality. In fact, I run the exe's from inside the zip file and they install just fine.Unless it's a specialty file format, you don't really need a program like WinZip anymore. I rarely encounter one, when I do, I use 7-Zip, no nonsense open source freeware.:(

Windows Explorer certainly comes in handy whenever I run into this problem (which fortunately rarely happens), thats for sure!Scott
