FS( 'cannot load' FSSound.dll

Featured Replies

Rob, are you sure you don't have another OldModules section hiding somewhere in your cfg file? I've added it more than once before...
Yep. 110% sure :biggrin:Just checked it again. And I even recall having done some experiments with that when I was creating my ProjectFokker 70/100 V3-addon a few years back (that addon contains the version of FSsound I am referring to)That's why I can be so sure that it works (on my PC, that is).So why it works for me, and not some others: as David (Opa) says: Great Mystery of Life :( Maybe the following might explain differences:- I'm running FS9 plus 9.1 update, on Windows XP,SP3- My FS9*.cfg files (I have several versions for various controller setups) are in the main FS9 folder. I select the proper one via different FS9 shortcuts on my desktop.- I'm using an unregistered version of FSUIPC.But I doubt that the above has anything to do with it.I guess the only one able to explain this different behaviour would be Daniël Steiner himself :( Cheers, Rob

Started FS9 this morning - all fine. Closed it down and changed one AFCAD for another. Restarted FS9: "Flight Simulator was unable to load some aircraft ... blah, blah, blah.." FSSound.dll again. Entry is correct in fs9.cfg and I now have the dll file in the main FS9 folder as well as in Modules. Clearly makes no difference. Bewildered..M.

If you have not done so already you might try Right clicking the FS9.exe file and under Properties and the Compatibility tab, set it to "run as adminstrator". Just a hunch that if you have not done that, FS2004 may not always get the "permissions" it needs to start up properly.Just a wild thought but perhaps worth a shot.

I was sure I'd done that in the past - but the box is unchecked, so I've redone it - I'll see what happens, though the eeror message is very sporadic anyway. (Once checked, the box should remain checked, no?).Thanks,M

No, just got the message again!!
Seem's to be a animated-hamster-wheel.gif :( Regards.bye.gifGus.

Quite!Seems to be happening only after I make any changes to bgl files and then restart FS...

I had this happen just recently after I changed FSUIPC from 3.7.3.0 which I kept to use the iFly 747 to 3.9.0.1. It may well of course be something else but I never saw it before. I only changed because ASE recomended it. It dosn't bother me to much.

The annoyance is that I have to keep restarting FS9 (after 3 or 4 times the message doesn't come up - I 'kill off' the FS9 process and close the FSSound.dll message by the red cross), or reboot. I also, several seconds later, sometimes get the same message about another gauge I use (ATC-WHM.gau) - but that one is impossible to get rid of: if you click on OK or the red cross it just keep coming back. I reboot, then all is OK. It's a real nuisance, though it only happens, as I say, after I made some change to the bgl files in FS9 (I think!). A few months back I never had this problem so I don't know what's changed. (I have FSUIPC v3.9.8.0).Can someone remind me what FS9 software actually uses FSSound.dll (some a/c, no?).Martin

This still goes on and on. If I remove FSSound.dll, what will I lose? I can't recall now which a/c make use of this gauge?M.

Hello,Seem's to me .. all your problems are related to some FS2002 files .... :( The GAU you describe is used in FS2002 ...Regards.bye.gifGus.

Hi Gus.. Yes, I know this is an FS2002 file: I don't understand why, after years of not having this issue, I suddenly have the warning message coming up so often. The "Old Modules" entry in fs9.cfg is definitely as it should be. I can't see how to discover which a/c (I assume it will be aircraft?) are using this dll file. Maybe I should just remove FSSound.dll and see what problems I get in FS9. (That said, I am currently getting the error message as I try to load up a flight with the Level-D 767-300. Surely that a/c should be OK??).Martin

Tempting fate by saying this, but since I went back to an earlier version of FSSound.dll several days ago (1.5.0.1 from the previous 1.6.0.15) I have had no error messages at all. M.
