Can't get to Cruise Altitude

The result! Using FSX Live weather, climb to FL270. MACH Speed Dot .816, but speed is gradually decreasing. TAT +48c.Speed has settled on .754 so I suspect that I would not be able to maintain cruise at a higher level. Sussed the weather forecast issues, they all seem to be the same. The EGT went into the red for about half the climb.Just a side issue.... I am getting a Door open warning even though all doors are closed. This has occurred on every flight.

You need to arm the doors. Pardon my cynicism, but reading the manuals or the tutorials might help.Given the temps you're stating, there's something clearly wrong with your weather. ISA lapse rate is about 2 degrees per thousand feet. Even on summer days of 30-40, you're never going to be anywhere near 48 at altitude.

Yes I did arm the doors, but door open still lights up.Re the ISA lapse rate, yes I have mentioned this twice, and +40 or so is rediculous, should be well into the minus.Re the manuals, show me where in the manuals there is any mention of OAT, as to what it should be, or why it works in reverse as you gain altitude.Have successfully completed flight as mentioned above, clear, cloudless weather at Christchurch, I thought not likely so switched on FSInn weather and full IFR conditions. Does this mean that in using FSX live weather it is still going to default to clear and sunny after a few minutes? I will try using the check box in FSInn next flight instead of CAVOK button to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Using current version and installed exactly as per instructions.

Marc, Thanks for your input. Tried a flight in the 744 and all work well, temp readings and performance, then back to MD11 and all ok there too. However, in the MD11 I had to use CAVOK from about 20000 to TOC, then back to FSInn weather. So far so good. (I do like a bit of IFR weather)

I have this same problem using the PMDG MD-11 with FSInn flying online. The TAT gets to +50C above FL245 and renders the aircraft unflyable. Using the CAVOK button (in FSInn which is supposed to fix this problem) does nothing, as it does for other aircraft. I was so much looking forward to getting this aircraft and take it for a spin, only to find that it doesn't spin very well online using standard equipment (FSInn). It seems odd that the answer to fixing this problem is for the individual to spend additional money for a weather generator (REX or ASX). I would have thought the staff would have looked into this before releasing this aircraft or at least issued a patch by now to correct it. I am thoroughly disappointed with this aircraft.

This problem was resolved for me by disabling FSInn weather and using FSX real-world weather or Active Sky Evolution. I had this issue with the 747 as well as the MD-11 until I stopped using FSInn weather.

How? When the problem started (aircraft slowing down, climb rate dropping to +/-100 fpm and the temperature TAT +/-50C) I clicked on the CAVOK button on the FSInn panel, which I understand should fix this, and nothing changed? I continued flying thinking it would change at some point but it never did. The aircraft continued to stall, the climb rate remained almost nothing and the TAT stayed where it was. Do you have to hit CAVOK before a certain flight level? What happens if you get to that flight level, like me, where you don't hit the CAVOK button before the problems begin, how do you jump start it?I have since changed my default weather in the settings to "Disable Weather by Default". Will this help?

Dandy_Don, please sign your posts per forum rules. What do you mean +/- 50C? That's a GIANT difference. If the OAT is -50C the plane will perform properly at altitude. If the temperature is +50C, the engines will not produce the thrust necessary to fly at altitude. This is also an unrealistic condition and I cannot imagine a scenario where 50C would be encountered at altitudes above 12,000 ft anywhere on the planet.

That's the point. The temperatures were climbing to some unrealistic values.Someone helped me out on a different forum with this as they had the same issues. The weather would not regenerate on it's own, I had to force it.. This has not been an issue with any other aircraft--typically once you hit the CAVOK option, the weather ususally changes immediately. For some reason, with the MD-11, you have to force the weather to regen.Just before this screen shot was taken, the TAT was +48C and rising. Even after selecting the CAVOK option and waiting a minute or so, nothing changed. Once I forced the weather to update, the TAT went to a value that seems logical.FSInnwxissue.jpg?t=1305769070
