Overlaying guages

Featured Replies

Hello Gents,I'm wondering if its possible to place a small gauge over a larger one so that both will be visible. My experience is that unless you eliminate the original gauge, the new one will end up being behind it and hidden. I'm wondering how FSX sets layering priorities for gauges. As a seperate but related question, is it possible to make a guage somewhat transparent so that the gauge you place it over would still be at least partially visible under it?

Hi,1. in fs9 "draworder" works.Don't know in fsx, but you can try.Synthax in panel.cfg is something like (no fs comp, available):[Windowetc]gaugexx=and thenDraworder00=gaugexx (underlying one), gaugeyy(The one placed over it)Draworder01= etc. etc.2. That depends of the color of the backgroundbitmap of your overlying gauge. If no bitmap define size of gauge:<Size x=",,", y=".."/>andBackgroundcolor=0,0,0 (is transparant)Hope it helps,Jan

AFAIK gauges further down the gauge listing are drawn after the ones above, but overlying gauges can have some significant visual interactions...

...not to mention blocking mouse areas on the lower gauges!

The only time I know this to be successful is if the underlying gauge is fully transparent and if it has no mouse areas or is one big mouse area where you don't mind the some of the mouse action area being blocked by the overlay gauges. It does have its uses but they are limited.-Dai

Hey Gents,Just to get back to you on this; Jan's suggestion worked like a charm (even with FSX). And I placed the gauge (button) over a place on the underlying gauge where there was no mouse hotspot. So both gauges work just fine independent of each other. My only issue now (and its just a small issue) is making a very small adjustment to where the gauge is positioned. (Its just a matter of a couple of pixels).
