Hi folks, I´m thinking of getting a new cooler for my CPU. When I use FSX the core temps are arround 70°C on all three cores and the CPU is also oc´ed, so I think a new coller would be good. I´m actually running the stock cooler which came with it. Also the cooler is very loud when running FSX, so I wanna get a quite one. I´m not really familiar with the brads and I have only arround 45$ or a bit more than 30€ to spend, so can anyone give me a hint to a cheap and good one?BTW: I need an LGA 775 compatible one.

Scythe Mugen II or CM Hyper 212 +

Here is a link to a couple of sites with a bunch of Socket 775 coolers. Since I have not used any of the ones in the $45 range I can not recommend any. They are more than you want to spend, but I can tell you that the Thermalright Silver Arrow and the Nocuta NH-D14 are great. The Thermalright Venomous X is also very good, but not as good at the Silver Arrow and NH-D14. Pay attention since a lot of reviewers add differnt fan combinations and compare temps of different configurations.

Maybe I get this one, it´s a bit smaller as the CM. But it´s obvious more expensive. Is it easy to build in?

The CM 212 is probably the best price/performance ratio cooler, but it's a bit noisy and harder to mount than the Mugen. The Mugen performs a tad better also

You need to make sure it fits in your case. What model is it? also get a good thermal compound like Artic Cooling Silver 5 (I don't know if there's something newer / better, maybe someone else can help there)

My case is an Cooler Master slient 500 case and I´ve checked that the Scythe one will probebly fit, but I might be a bit thight. I´ve meassured from mobo to the cover 17 cm and the scythe is 15 cm long so a bit tight. I will probably buy it on amazon and it seems that with the scythe there will be thermal compound shipped, so do I need the exra one?

Shouldn´t be anything wrong with the cooling paste they´re supplying. I always have some ArcticSilver lying around, though.Remember, a very fine layer. And when you fit the cooler, make sure you turn all the screws the same amount, so it´ll fit precisely. B

I´ve just purchased the Scythe SCGM-2100 Mugen II CPU cooler, seems to be a good one. It will be shipped tomorrow and I hopefully have it on Saturday. Thanks for your tips, without I would have been totaly without any ideas which one to take.

Update: The coolöer reached me today evening, two days before I thought. It took me two hours to get in installed (Yeah, it´s really huge), but it´s working fine now. Thanks Dario and all other guys who helped me.
