GPS Question

Featured Replies

I read that one cannot enter a flight plan into a GPS.It can only be done by entering a flight plan in FSXand then it gets transferred into the GPS.My question is :How does it work in the real world ? Suppose I fly a real world Cessna equipped with a GPS 500and I want to enter a flight plan. How is it done ?ThanksHerbert Warner

This is an FSX "feature"..In the real world, you enter the flightplan into the GPS by usingthe keys and knobs on the GPS.If you get a RealityXP GNS530 (fee, not free) you will encounterthe real world situation.

HiI concur with Bert, that is how a FP gets entered. There are (free of charge) GARMIN 400/500 stand alone trainers downloadable from the Garmin website. See Garmin 400-500 TrainerI have been able to insert 'direct to' but have not been able to fathom out how to input the FP but I am assured it can be done.Hope this helpsRoger

In the mean time I have downloaded - into Microsoft Games - the above Garmin 400-500 Trainer. How do I now incorporate this trainer/programinto an FSX aircraft,ex Cessna 172 ? Thanks againHerbert

As far as I know you cannot integrate the Garmin Trainers into FSX. These trainers demonstrate entering flight navigtion and radio data into the equivalent equipment used in real flying. Sorry if my post implied that they can be used with FSX.Roger

You will have to purchase the Reality-XP GNS530 for FSX.http://www.reality-xp.com/flightsim/gns530/index.html
