February 23, 201115 yr Very well done review. I have been using this AOA MD-11F training for the last 6 weeks and am in total agreement as to the quantity and quality of training material. I am probably most impressed with the HD videos with the use of a slick little pointer (the AOA repaint of course), lots of zooming in and out, and fantastic VC views using the TrakIR and EZdok. The narration is also of the highest caliber. It is just light years ahead of anything else out there.I would like to see supplemental lessons on some of the panels unique to the MD flight deck. The Flight Control Panel (FCP) is different enough from the Mode Control Panel (MCP) on the Boeings to merit its own lesson. I find it difficult to fly the MD-11 in the morning and a B757-200 or Embraer 175 in the afternoon or evening. The use of the AutoPilot/Nav or lack of VNav, TOGA or Autothrottle and arming of each are different enough to deserve its own lesson. The Airbus, Boeing 7xx, and MD-11 are certainly dissimilar enough to warrant this. The quick answer is that is why we have type ratings. True, but this the not the real world, its FSX and I have a hangar full of airliners and I am chief pilot on all of them for whatever airline or cargo hauler I may choose. I don't have to choose Boeing or Airbus, I own them all. I tend to enjoy jumping from one to another. Very unlike the real world pilotsThis AOA training seems to assume that you are as intimately familiar with the MD-11 cockpit as Chris or Nick (narrator and editor) from the very first video. I wasn't and I'm not sure I have caught up after completing the entire series of lessons. I attribute this to having too many planes in the hangar.I noticed the AVSIM Gold Star Award in the heading page, but no mention whatsoever in the body of the review. I would certainly think something this significant would be worthy of a few words.Ray Marshall When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

I would certainly think something this significant would be worthy of a few words.Ray MarshallThanks for pointing that out...I nominated this product for the Gold Star Award because of it's quality and as you would have mentioned in your post, it's clear and innovative methods of instruction that are light years ahead of anything available today. I mentioned these points throughout the review but I probably should have mentioned it again as the reason for the award. Marlon Carter - AVSIM Reviewer
