Runway Info Gauge in FSX?

Featured Replies

Hello David:Sorry that you are having such trouble with rwyinfo. The "heading" was meant to be simply the title shown at the top of the gauge display. I will try to attach a screenshot (FSX, old model Carnado V35, although I have the gauge in all of my FSX aircraft).I don't remember having any trouble getting this gauge to work in FSX or having to do anything special. It works just fine so I imagine the solution is simple if you can hang in there long enough to get it to work. You probably did, but if not try restarting your computer after inserting the files in your root directory. From what you have said, I am at a loss as to why you cannot enter your airports (You do have "airports" selected rather than "vor / NDB"?Good luck!RTH
Will wonders never cease!I had been using my FS2004 setup (which works just fine) copied over to FSX - and that was displaying properly but not accepting any keyboard input. So I decided to start over "from scratch" - and installed it fresh - all items exactly as Ernie's jpg on his site shows as an example - and guess what.............. it now works "as advertised".I cannot see anything really different from my FS2004 installation other than the placement of the icon - but who cares.... it now works! :( Another one of those "Great Mysteries of Life" I guess. All is well that ends well.
Hi Don. Exactly what did you do? I assume you have the rwyinfov2 gauge in the gauges folder and a RwyInfo folder with just the two txt files in the FSX main folder. Is that right? When I look at the properties of the gauge it says Version 0.1.0 but inside the gauge it says V2. The two txt files are dated 2005. Thanks, Bob.
Hi Bob, You got it right. I got a new zip from Ernie's page and unzipped it to desktop. I put the RwyInfo Folder in the FSX folder and the gauge in the FSX/Gauges folder. I then installed the gauge(using FSPS) in it's own window, and put the pop-up icon in my 2D and VC. I launched FSX, selected my test plane, and viola, it worked.Very strange, though! That is how I tried it the first time. The Prwydata.txt and Pnavdata.txt are still the same(2005 dates). I made the mistake of overwriting the gauge itself so now I can't check if the properties have changed. The rwyinfo.gau that works is dated Apr 07,2006.It's newer than the data files so that may be the fix in a nutshell...Don

Hi Don. Thanks. I completely deleted my previous gauge in the Gauges folder and the RwyInfo folder in the main FSX folder. I got the file from the site. I put the gauge into the FSX Gauges folder (It was dated Apr. 07, 2006). I put the RwyInfo folder into the main FSX folder. I will try it ASAP in FSX and report back. I am busy right now so can't try it for a while. Thanks, regards, Bob.P.S. Don your suggestion was 100% correct. It now works. I have no idea why it did not work before. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! Regards, Bob.

Hello everyone,I am using FSX again after three years of inactivity. I installed rwyinfo v2 in my panels and it works just great! Make sure you follow the author's instructions to the letter or you will have problems.
