March 4, 201115 yr Hi AllJust wondering how you did this, or even better still, got rid of them completely.Basically I have two situations I want to rectify. One is that a handful of my WOAI aircraft come up as selectable aircraft when creating a flight. To get around this, I have gone into the aircraft.cfg file for each of them and changed the "ui_manufacturer" from whatever it was to "AI" so that now at least I only have one category I don't want instead of about 6 or 7, so that's a temporary fix.Does anyone know how I can remove them altogether? I'm guessing there is something in the aircraft.cfg that determines whether or not the aircraft is "selectable"?The other thing I want to do is clear up the namings for my installed add ons. As I have PMDG, PSS, WIlco etc I get things like:Boeing - PSSBoeing - PMDBWilco Airbus Vol 1Wilco Airbus Vol 2When I wantAIrbusBoeingEmbraer... etc.Can I just change the ui_manufacturer in the aircraft.cfg with no ill effect?ThanksMartin
March 4, 201115 yr Well, all I do is re-name the ui-manufacturer to Airbus, Boeing etc. Further to this I re-name the ui type to A320-100, A320-200 A330-300 B737-200 B737-300 B737-800 and so on. Done this for years with no ill effects. In the menu I thus get Boeing sub-divded into 737-200 757-200 etc etc.Dave

March 4, 201115 yr Hi Martin, to answer your first question. Whether a plane either standard or an ai plane can be flown and selected in the menu is not trigered by the aircraft.cfg. It is by the "aircraft type 105" line in the ".air" file of every aircraft (look at the attached pic). Do a search here or in Fligtsim for a file called : "aired" which is an editor for the air files. I don't recall the actual codes now since I am not at my FS computer, but If i remember there is a type "2" and type "1". or maybe one of them is a zero. But in any event its easy to find out. Download the program open it, and open the air file of one of your standard flyable aircraft and look at the type in line 105. then open an AI plane which does not show in the aicraft menu selection and look at the type number. Then just open the air file of the AI that are showing up in the aircraft selection menu and change the type to the same as the other ai planes that don't show up. Its really simple. In regards to the changes to the ui manufacturer in the aircraft.cfg file. I usually fly with a second computer connected via WideFs in which I have the running map of Flightcommander 9 open. I can see all the AI planes flying around me. The names of every aircraft displayed on the map comes from the ui manufacturer. So I have changed all my AI planes ui manufacturer to the airline name. So now instead of having a lot od FSP, DJC,OSP, Aardwark etc Hi have Lufthansa, Air France, Iberia , etc. If you prefer you can change it instead to the aircraft type.Hope this answers your questionsRegardsJuan
March 4, 201115 yr Ditto - get AirEd and change from aircraft type=0 to =2 and they will no longer show up in the flyable menu. (Which will also significantly reduce your load time)I also edit all my aircraft cfg files so they only show up under the real world manufacturing company - Boeing, Beechcraft etc. Keeps things more logical and gives credit to where it's due. No matter how clever somebody's model is, they did not develop an XYZ Simulations 747-400 - Boeing did. Doesn't disrespect their expertise in modelling it in FS - just recognizes that they are making a "model" of a real airplane.Make sure you get rid of silly listings like Boeing Aircraft Company and such nonsense, and better still, list them as SILENT and then put the correct model name. I don't think I have ever heard ATC refer to anything other than a "737" or "A320." (And BTW, have never heard a Cessna referred to as anything than a number (152, 172 etc.) while at the same time I don't recall ever hearing a Piper referred to as anything other than a "Cub" or "Cherokee" etc.) :( There is Word document that someone produced that corrects most of these - tells you what to list and what ATC will say when it sees that listing. If you don't have it or can't find it, PM me and I will email it to you
March 9, 201115 yr Also recommend AirEd - very useful tool: you can see from the screenshot how much it does..FWIW, I have changed the data in all my aircraft.cfg files, so that they read like this:ui_manufacturer=Egypt - EgyptAirui_type=Airbusui_variation=a321-200Like that, I can choose an aircraft for a flight by country, then airline, then manufacturer and then type. Suits me anyway!Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
