Just Flight 767

Featured Replies

Today I received an email from Just Flight. Here's part of the ad: "The experts at CLS (Commercial Level Simulations) have worked their magic to develop superb models of the 767" Since ,in my opinion, The LDVD 767 is the most advanced aircraft in FS2004 and my favorite "heavy" I was wondering how this new version of the 767 might be differant. They advertised a 50% off, so for $15 I thought I'd give it a try.It download and installed without any problems. When the "cockpit" poped into view I was very pleased. It was a bit more "colorful" than the LVLD version. A few things right off the start I liked. This aircraft comes with a Garman 500 GPS and you dont have to add one like I did with the LVLD. Also, (I know I should not use this, but was happy to see a "NAV/GPS" switch that allows the plane to automaticly fly a track line. (One of these days I got to RE-learn to program the FMC). A couple of Un-realistic items were that you can start the engines with "Ctrl/E"(shame shame), and at spool-up its not necessary to click the engine cutoff switch to "ON" to start the engines. All in all I liked the way it looked. I thought I'd give it a test flight from KSEA to KPDX and thats when the problems ( my problems, not the aircraft's) started. I received a OOM error even before I backed out of the gate. I started over and got another one sitting on the runway. I have a FSUIPC "save flight" modual installed, so I started over again. The end of the story was I received 4 OOM errors( which you know STOPPED the flight) and I never did make it to Portland, KPDX.I uninstalled the whole download and I'm sticking with my beloved, LVLD 767.I have been having OOM problems since I received my new computer last November. Before that, in 12 years I had NEVER had even one... didn't even know what they were. They are not good. My last computer had 4 gigs of RAM, the new computer has 12 gigs of RAM. I can check my "available memory" (Ctrl/Alt/Del/performace) and I start with about 10,700 "units, what ever they are. After about an hour and 1/2 flight they will be down to about 9200 units. Much more flying time and I get the dreded OOM error. The main question that I have at this time, is.... is the normal? Is this available memory supposed to be "used up" like avgas on a flight? Start with a "full tank" then it goes down and down and down.....? Is this normal? What, if ANYTHING, can be done about fixing this problem once and for all? Is there anyone out there that has had this problem and have fixed it? PLEASE, what did you do? Thanks jerrycwo4

It runs fine on my system.. Not sure what could be causing your problems! good luck.

Note CLS places the VC textures in the main FS9 texture folder rather than inside the aircraft texture folder. OOMs can come from corrupt textures from either aircraft, scenery or even weather/effects.

You are explaining a classic memory leak. Generally comes from a faulty addon as in sceneries texture files. Is the CLS the only time you get the OOM?
No, I started getting the OOM errors after I started installing scenery after receiving my new computer last November. Question is , how do you FIX it ? What are the steps in finding the cause of a memory leak? This is old hat! I know someone else has had this problem and learned how to fix it. Please share with me how to START fixing the problem. Thanks jerrycwo4

Jerry, you need to use Filemon to see what is your sim looking for. If your O/S is Vista or Seven, use then Process Monitor. You may download it at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645. When you open it, it will request you some filters, these are the ones I've set:- If Process Name is fs9.exe, Include- If Result is SUCCESS, Exclude- If Result is Fast IO Disallowed, ExcludeI had to add the third filter because I was getting too much bogus results. Then click OK, make sure Process Monitor is capturing (the magnifying glass should not have a red X on it) and in the Path column the problematic files should appear, i.e., the ones that have NOT FOUND as a result. If you have XP, Filemon is easier and IMO, gives less bogus results. Hope this helps.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Its been a few days since I posted this but when I tried to go to your recommended site it was not available. What other things can I try? This error has been around for a long time. Someone who has had this problem and have FIXED it, please tell me how to get started. Thanks jerrycwo4

Jerry, your OOM problem stated around February of 2010 after installing UT (Ultimate Terrain).http://forum.avsim.net/topic/277124-correct-order-to-install-ultimate-terrain-fs2004/page__p__1722056__hl__jerryuscg__fromsearch__1#entry1722056You know what is causing your OOM's, you state it here:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/281275-memory-loss-why-now/page__p__1747077__hl__jerryuscg__fromsearch__1#entry1747077

I've been reading about "memory loss" for a long time now, but to be honest, I never paid too much attention to it. It was just one of those things that happened to "other people" and not a problem that I was having.... until after 12 years of Flight Sims and 6 different Flight Sim computers. But why now ? My latest rig was top of the line a year ago with a 4.01 gHZ CPU and 4 GB of ram and 3 Video cards flying FS2004. It started about 6 weeks ago and the very first time I saw that message, "Your computer is out of available memory" was on a first night flight after installing UT (Canada and Alaska) and all of those thousands of street light started popping up.
Not sure why you've started another thread about OOM's under a subject of "Just Flight 767?Have you read all your OOM threads and tried any of those suggestions that ppl have spent time writing? You've started several OOM threads but have never repsonded back as to what you've done or tried. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/323082-oom-errors-with-windows-7/page__p__1904768__hl__jerryuscg__fromsearch__1#entry1904768http://forum.avsim.net/topic/322986-out-of-available-memory-oom-error/page__p__1904448__hl__jerryuscg__fromsearch__1#entry1904448http://forum.avsim.net/topic/298841-how-to-stop-oom/page__p__1836346__hl__jerryuscg__fromsearch__1#entry1836346 My suggestion:Uninstall UT (Ultimate Terrain) and see what happens.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/289680-can-the-video-card-memory-be-a-bottleneck-and-cause-oom-what-leads-me-to-that-thinking-that-is-1-can-a-videocard-memory-be-a-reason-for-oom-in-fs9/page__p__1793431__hl__3green+ultimate+terrain__fromsearch__1#entry1793431Read Ray Proudfoot's post's about FS9 crashes and how UT was the problem. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/263264-fs9-crashes-near-seattle/page__p__1651085__hl__proudfoot__fromsearch__1#entry1651085http://forum.avsim.net/topic/323331-fs9-hangs-when-starting-from-ksea/page__p__1908028__hl__ray+proudfoot__fromsearch__1#entry1908028Good luckRJ
