March 18, 201115 yr http://www.asus.com/...YermRswb7n46yAXThis is actually the MB I have. I think it has something to do with being a P43 chipset. Not really a big deal I guess. As I said, hopefully Sandy is coming my way soon... But don't tell that to my wife..lolOff topic, I just added 2 2000rpm Coolermaster fans in my case(for a total of 5 fans plus CPU cooler) and it dropped my iddle temp by 4 degrees celsius. The only thing is that it's lot more noisy..wife is going to be annoyed... I see, my mistake, you should be able to run at 1066MHz, I don't know why you can't.
March 18, 201115 yr Author I see, my mistake, you should be able to run at 1066MHz, I don't know why you can't.Thanks for making me think about trying again. I have it now set at 1066(well higher with the OC) and it seems to work fine...strange.
March 27, 201115 yr I just got an E8500 to replace my E6600. I have a pretty extensive watercooling setup, but I was able to hit 4.6GHz with little effort. (484 FSB, 1,936MHz effective.) RAM linked 1:1. Needed a decent amount of volts, but it's stable as can be. I can get it higher with a lower multiplier I'm sure. The 790i Ultra mobo was one of the best overclockers ever made, and is very happy even over 550MHz. (Mobo is watercooled as well.) The processor was known for being one of the best overclocking pro's that Intel made, which is why I bought it. 4.25GHz on air is not uncommon for the 8500.
