November 21, 200322 yr Can anyone tell me if you can use a wireless keyboard, mouse AND joystick simultaneously without interferance issues? Does anyone know if you can get wireless headphone/mic set? I guess if each product has its own frequency and its own transmitter, you would sure use up USB ports in a hurry. You'd almost need a common hub to control all frequencies to and from the PC. Does this exist? Thanks for any info you can provide.
November 21, 200322 yr The only thing I have is a Wireless Network.I used to have a wireless optical mouse, but gave that to my kids for their laptop, and went to a wired optical mouse.I have one word for you to consider:BATTERIESWirelss is good, but if you spend any amount of time on the computer, be prepared to change out your batteries... A LOT....I work from my computer, and It got old pretty quick changing the mouse batteries all the time, plus there is always a slight, (no matter how small), delay in any wirelss device.I also got tired of the slight miniscule delay everytime I needed to wake up my mouse to move it. It was not instantaneous.I will never go back to a wireless mouse or anything, unless batteries get supercharged for my use.Just something for you to consider.Regards,Joe http://aboutpolitics.net/images/bannerav.gif.About Politics.net - FORUMShttp://pub207.ezboard.com/bpoliticsgivemel...tyorgivemedeath.Contribute to the Richard Harvey Scholarship Fund.http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtml CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
November 21, 200322 yr I am strongly going to disagree with the above post. Wireless is great. My mouse requires the batteries to be changed once a month... AT MOST. My computer is used everyday for a very good portion of it.I have had no problem taking the 30 seconds to swap batteries once a month and can use the mouse and keyboard from anywhere in the room.Be sure to buy a good brand also. Those cheap wireless mouses are crap. Same goes with the keyboard. And if it isn't optical, it doesn't belong :-)Don't let "batteries" scare you away from wireless._________________________________________Jeff.It's time for us as a people to start making some changes,Lets change the way we eat,Lets change the way live,Lets change the way we treat each other.
November 21, 200322 yr Hey Joe, I use a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse - the mouse response is instant - as long as you use rechargeable batteries I have had no problems with it. I use it for my Media Center. Just a thought...
November 21, 200322 yr Ok, I probably should not have said never.I have the IBM Wireless Optical Mouse, and the kids have it now. Have not changed batteries in about a month.I tried using it with XP, and with the IBM mouse suite. I'm telling you, I burned through my rechargable 1800mah AA's like they were butter. But I am on my Computer, some days up to 10 hours a day, almost everyday, and I mouse a lot.The main thing I am glad I did was go optical on the mouse. The wireless does not bother me much, since if I was any further away, I probably couldn't see the screen anyway. I may have had just a bad experience, and there are probably better wireless options out there than what I had.Good Luck,Joe CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
November 21, 200322 yr I've had a wireless keyboard for about two months now. Haven't needed to change the batteries yet. And I spend a LOT of time online using it.. :) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
November 21, 200322 yr My logitech mouse: I have just changed the batteries in it and I used it for almost 8 months. Now I didn't use it everyday - so not bad! The main thing I was pointing out was the delay you were experiencing. The logitech, even when it is in low power mode - polls constantly for movement. So the results are instantaneous. I highly recommend it.DISCLAIMER: I do not work for Logitech or own stock or am not in any way, shape, or form affiliated with Logitech except by owning their products. However, if Logitech will give me free stuff, I will more than happy to spread the good word of Logitech throughout the forum world.
November 21, 200322 yr Admit it Ken,You are a super secret logitech mole sent here to assimilate me, right? :-)The polling does sound good, since it constantly does that.I'll be building a new box sometime early next year, an dturning this one over to my sons, so maybe I'll buy one then.Incidently I love my little GE Wireless 5-button mouse, which works great for left-handed mouse people like me. Cost me $10.00.I need a mouse that agrees with left-handed mouse people.Disclaimer: I used to work for GE years ago. :-)Regards,Joe CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
November 21, 200322 yr Moderator >works great for left-handed mouse people like me. Cost me>$10.00.>>I need a mouse that agrees with left-handed mouse people.Aha! Now we have the real story. Your battery problem is directly related to your left handed mousing. The electrons in the mouse circuit travel from RIGHT to LEFT - when you use it left handed this tries to force the electrons to move in the opposite direction - they resist this unnatural action and use up a LOT of juice trying to compensate - ergo - batteries run down sooner in left handed mice. You COULD, however, search for left handed batteries - they're not cheap and rare as hens teeth but thge electron flow is reversed and they don't exhibit the same problem.HTH,Vic Baron RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
November 21, 200322 yr http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/49440.jpgResistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
November 21, 200322 yr ..this all ties in, of course, with Flemmings Left-Hand Motor rule... ok-ok- look it up - it's there.. It's related to Flemmings Right-Hand Generator Rule.. or is it the other way 'round. Thank God I was born ambiguous.PJ
November 21, 200322 yr Hey Vic,That has to be the reason. No wonder I haven't had to change them in a month on the kids laptop. You sir, are a genious. Of course it's the elctron thing.By the way, did I hear through the grapevine you are actually a left-handed battery distributor on the side. You know, in the world of FD (Full Disclosure), and all. ;-)Now, I just saw an ad from Sharper Image, and saw the Ionic Breeze on sale for the low-low price of 35 payments of $99.95.Now this seems like a bargin, and will not the ion's attracted counterbalance the electron movement due to my left-hand dominance of the mouse?Inquiring minds want to know.If we can solve this problwem, it may just lead to world peace, & Nobel Peace Prize money. (To buy that new Dell $1,000,000 gaming Computer that still brings MSFS9 to it's knees, yet still promises to remove all the shutters.) We could be the saviors of the world. And of course we will mention Avsim, so they get a few more members as well. ;-)Regards,Joe CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
November 21, 200322 yr Now Ken,You know as well as I that the Borg's use a totally different operating system than the rest of us.Rumors state it is Linux, since it runs so well thtrough their servers, but that has not yet been confirmed.I have no problem being assimilated, but not if I can't get MSFS9 & Fly! II to run on it.Please work on that and get back to me. :-)***In In his best zombie homer voice...****---Must watch Star Trek Next Gen, Must watch Star Trec Next Gen ---Regards,Joe CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
