Will flight be in 3D?

Not heard anyone say if it would or not support 3D.If monitors will support 3D without glasses in the next couple of years (from what I read this is likely) why build 3D in to flight? Some questions. Is there much visual 3D impact in a flight sim compared to an action game?Would it take much of a performance hit to achieve it?

Hi,It will not be 3D.

Hi Jim,How do you know that?
lol he does not, take a guess it's 50/50, but Jim is on the right path since he know Flight is FSX reworked.......just pulling your leg Jim.....:(

I WILL BE JUST KIDDING HERE:If I told you then I would have to kill you!I AM JUST KIDDING HERE!But my first reply still stands.

Doesn't FS already support 3D?I think this is more of a hardware thing.I used to use those Nvidia stereo glasses to fly in 3D…worked well IMO.

Those will still work.

I think this is more of a driver issue then a game issue. From what I have seen and used on older games, the option to support 3D or not is almost 100% up to the video card drivers. I had 3D VR glasses, and used them in IL2 and they worked! IL2 had 0 support for 3D, and not many of todays games do, but it still works fine.

FSX already supports 3D, it mostly a drivers issue: with the correct drivers, any DirectX or OpenGL program should work in 3D. Of course, you'll need a set of PC glasses, and a PC monitor compatible with 3D (must support 120 hz refresh rate).nVidia has also recently released a package to use PC games in 3D with modern 3D TVs.ATI Cards are more of a problem, because they require a 3rd party driver to work in 3D, while nVidia supported Stereo drivers for a very long time.Since FSX already worked in 3D, I don't expect MS Flight wouldn't. However, there are few issues, specifics with Flight simulator:- 2D panels. They don't look very nice in 3D. Not really wrong, but they look out of place. The VC is the only sensible way to use Flight sim in 3D.- Lights and special effects. Any lights like runway/taxiways lights, external airplane lights and special effects like smoke, explosions, etc, are not very 3D friendly, probably because were always handled differently compared to the rest of the 3d world so, I seems to recall there were small visual artifacts with FSX in 3D mode. But generally, FSX (and even FS9, although with worse problems with lights/effects) already work in 3D.

So Jim, when do you think flight will be released?

OK, I understand now. I thought the game had to be written for 3D. Jim, you've gone right down in my estimation ! :-)

Hi guys, I have a 3DTV (Sony LX903) and I've played several games in 3D already. As long as it supports DirectX or OpenGL and is rendering in 3D you can display this on a 3D TV from your computer. Nvidia has it's propritery 3D technology, however they also support 3D Play (driver) which can support any 3DTV's. ATI as yet have not yet released a 3D driver, however I have used the iZ3D driver which works perfectly. With these drivers you select the 3D mode your TV supports (side by side say), switch your TV to this mode, load the game up and bang your in 3D. I've achieved some amazing results already. Some games have 3D built in which simply means they can support various 3D modes (like sidy by side, over the top etc) used by 3DTV's out the box with no need for an extra graphics card driver support. Crysis 2 and Avatar are two games which spring to mind but I'm sure there are many others. I have to say that the 3D element really is amazing. You really don't need a game to be made for 3D as a lot of titles I've tried have really good effects. Cheers,Dave.

My more precise guess would be the 1Q of 2012.Big%20Grin.gif

Q1 is the worst time to release a game/simulation. No holidays, no events, bills from Christmas roll in, taxes due soon. Q3-4 are WAY better.
