WestJet

I knew that in February of this year that WestJet was to lease a couple 757's from finnair but it looks like they painted them aswell, which really surprised me, seeing the WestJet paint on anything other then a 737 just looks weirdbiggrin.gif.westjet.jpg

Very interesting I have often wondered when they would upgrade to a larger aircraft. It seems that in fact they are leasing the 757's from North American Airlines. These are probably a one off during peak travel times, I couldn't see WJ move away from one type of AC as one type rating for all pilots and maintenance makes huge economical sense.Good find, thanks for sharing.

North American Airlines is providing pilots and flight attendants to operate the aircraft as well as aircraft maintenance engineers for ongoing servicing and maintenance. A WestJet service ambassador will be on board each 757-200 flight to ensure that the WestJet guest experience is consistently delivered to the airline’s standards and expectations.

They have been using this aircraft on the Alberta to Hawaii routes only and the lease is about to expire. Air Canada Jazz is also operating five 757's out of Halifax on their Caribean Destinations. It is great to see a few more 757's over Canadian Airspace.I had some fun flying these routes in FSX this past winter:2011-3-4_10.jpg

That is indeed a great find YTZ. I went looking for the aircraft before but could not find pics. Any news of what they will do after the lleases are up if they do not renew them?Kind regards,

I have not heard news if they will renew the lease. The lease expires April 30. My guess is they won't need them for the summer months as this was just a one off for this past peek winter season on that Alberta to Hawaii demand. Strong Canadian Dollar saw a spike in demand for this service as US Destinations are good value for Canadians this past winter. If the demand continues I am sure they will extend the lease.

Thanks for that, I first heard it was finnair, but North American it is.
