April 14, 201115 yr Getting an aural config warning through the take off roll. Have flaps set, spoiler armed and stab trim in the green band. I don't fully understand the flap pre-set (which I believe provides finer incremental flap setting? Run it round to say Flap 22 but the flaps deploy to 24?). FMC all set, with V speeds in, flight programme set with SID. So, what am I missing ? Help appreciated.Cheers -------------------------------------------------- Colin Dobson A problem shared is a problem doubled

April 15, 201115 yr Did you hit the autopilot button once as well? Can you do a couple screenshots of the cockpit? and the throttle quad? Travis Shipley
April 15, 201115 yr I am pretty sure that you will get a T/O config warning if your flaps are at the value set in the FMC. If you told the FMC you wanted Flaps 22 you and your Dial-a-flap is set to 24, I think that will give you the warning you are seeing. Paul Smith.
April 17, 201115 yr Are you getting a green box in the engine display?Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.

If you see a green box, then all should be OK. If you see a white box with text in it, try and correct the issue based on that warnign. If you still have problems, let us know what that text says. You're basically correct about the incremental flap control ('dial-a-flap'). It is important to set a value in the TO page of the MCDU and then set the dial-a-flap selector to the same value. If you have TOPCAT, it gives you a recommended flap setting in the takeoff performance calculation. If you don't have TOPCAT, you could settle for 15 degrees standard and 25 degrees if you're at or near performance limits for a given runway. These are totally unscientific recommendations mind you! Sidenote: TOPCAT is a very good buy if your main interest in simming is airliners, I consider it one of the best out-of-sim programs I've bought. Mark Adeane - NZWN

I still use the MD-11 Load Manager to enter info into FSX but that info is based upon what TOPCAT indicates what will work and what will not. I have TOPCAT installed on a laptop that is not networked to the desktop that runs FSX. It is a very good program.I use 20 degrees flaps for takeoff and go with a flex temp that shows I will have about a 500-600 foot margin on takeoff.Michael Cubine Michael Cubine
