April 22, 201115 yr Eric, I have followed your extremely valued information on the Ezydok forums and can only say that you must have sold many more ezydok programs to many more by simply being human in your approach. For that I thank you and I know I speak for many more in doing this. Now with TrackIR I can definately help you as I have the only reviewed ** issued and that is to download from the Natural Point website a profile known as 'Optimized Flight'. It's the one many people are using now and helps to slow things down so that the TIR can be used easily. While using it, you need to change the settings for 'pause' to your 'mouse 3' button (The wheel pushed down) on your mouse. That way you can make easy adjustments to buttons on the FCP etc. Your using the mouse to make changes on the FCP so you may as well use Mouse 3 for pausing them.Good luck and I'm looking forward to your next fabulous video? All the very best to you Eric, It's people like you that make this hobby of ours more enjoyable. :(Thank you. Knowing that my videos are helping others is incentive enough to keep doing them. Thanks, also, for the TrackIR tips. I won't be able to really start working with it until later next week but I will spend my time until then scouring the forums for more good information.I use both - see EZDok as a way to move the pivot of the view and then TrackIR to look around that pivot point.Yep... That's exactly how I assumed the two would compliment each other. AMD 7800X3D, RTX 4090, 42" LG C3 OLED 4K TV/Monitor
May 3, 201115 yr For anyone interested in using TrackIR and EZdok together, I finally got around to making another video using both.If you've been using them together already you probably won't find anything new or useful in the video but if you have one and are contemplating purchasing the other, it may give you a better understanding as to how the two work together. I'm not a TrackIR expert by any means so I'm still open to any tips and techniques from those who have been working with either or both of them for awhile already. Here's the link back to my post: EZdok Videos at SimForums AMD 7800X3D, RTX 4090, 42" LG C3 OLED 4K TV/Monitor
May 3, 201115 yr Great work, Erick. You're the Bob Ross of setup guides. ^_^How do you like the combination of both (EZCA + TrackIR) so far? Quite some immersion added, huh?
May 3, 201115 yr Great work, Erick. You're the Bob Ross of setup guides. ^_^How do you like the combination of both (EZCA + TrackIR) so far? Quite some immersion added, huh?I love the combination! It's great to finally be able to reach up and around the window frame when it's blocking the runway on base to final. And since my 20/15 vision is nothing but a distant memory, it's awesome to be able to scooch in a bit and actually read some of my instruments again.By the way, today's "10% Off Everything Tuesday" at PC Aviator so if any one's in the market... May 3, 201115 yr Sounds like my experience back then. I first was distracted about the thing which I didn't know so far. People spoke about TrackIR and I was asking myself what could be so special about it. Even the videos didn't impress me much and so it was a 'dangerous buy', not cheap to. But after using it for 2 minutes, the whole FSX world changed and I wouldn't want to miss it now. There's a tip, surely a common one. You can map the EZCA on/off toggle to a mouse button. So you can "zoom in" with leaning forward via TrackIR, press that button, operate the gauge in a not-shaking environment and get back to normal pilots view when pressing the button again.I first had the TrackIR Pause mapped in this way, but the still shaking view from EZCA was a problem then. You may say that this is an awkward approach since you can define other views in EZCA. Well, that is true but you would have to switch to that view and later switch back while the 'stop button solution' lets you act like a real pilot, using the VC, looking at the GPS and operating it. Since the whole shaking and need to hold your head there would be annoying, the stop button is the way to go VC only and being able to operate the units. You are using the mouse only then since you operate the gauge with it and temporarily stop EZCA + TrackIR.Lets see this as an alternative to setting up different views to step through. I often enough have the pilot and his co, nothing more, rest done via TrackIR and "stop".
May 4, 201115 yr EZDok is one of the most frustrating add ons for FSX but a little patience goes a long way. I have been able to set up my cameras for some time by importing default vies and modifying zoom, position and camera names... The thing that has perplexed me since day one is the camera effects. Thank you for the videos. I have not gotten through them yet but it is clear that they will answer some questions. In addition, your voice is very relaxing.Thank you. This should have been included with the original release. May 4, 201115 yr I agree that there's more of a learning curve for EZdok than just about any other addon so I'm glad they're helping. In addition, your voice is very relaxing. That's funny. Someone else mentioned that. Maybe I should make some MP3s of myself counting to 100 and sell them on iTunes as a cure for insomnia.:( AMD 7800X3D, RTX 4090, 42" LG C3 OLED 4K TV/Monitor
May 5, 201115 yr Erick - thanks for doing the vids, and especially for going out on a limb and purchasing the TIR! :( I haven't used EZCA for a few moths because of its time-consuming setup and the absolute aggravation that happens when something goes wrong. It's like a big blank wall, I suspect, for many. In my case - it's the blasted zoom setup. Any time I reinstall this software I go through the motions, I delete every key associated with a view or a number, but no matter how many times I press '2', left arrow, right arrow, up, down, page up, page down , or roll my mouse wheel I'm darned if I can set the zoom level to a place that is the equivalent of my normal seat in the cockpit when just using plain ol' TIR. I am SO praying that this will be ' a snap' in v2.0 whenever it is released. The shaking, rattling and rolling I love, but that initial setup makes me want to rip my pc to shreds. I'm now in the middle of yet another attempt to set it up (a tribute to your calm, soothing, relaxing videos), and am about to start the sim in a few moments. (sigh) :( I almost believe that the complete Cold War has been replaced by Marniftarr all on his own. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
May 5, 201115 yr Success! Reading one post over at EZCA, I came across this: go into C:\Users\login_name\AppData\Roaming\EZCA\db\. Open the two folders - aircraft and virtual_cockpit, find the default_heavy, mid and light.cam files, look for 'zoom' in each one and change it from 26 (or whatever) to 60. Fixed! No more distortion, the pillar is where it should be, and the bug-eye feel is gone! All is forgiven, Marny! :( Sometimes life is like a yo-yo. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
May 5, 201115 yr Your experience is precisely why most of us who have tried it have a love/hate relationship with this software. Have you tried experimenting with the "General Settings" under the Options menu, specifically, playing with the presets for the Virtual Cockpit? The reason I ask is because I too had issues at first getting my camera in the right place until I read somewhere to try the "Cinema" preset for the virtual cockpit camera. I probably should have spent more time in my videos going over some of these settings since I found that the camera moves in much smaller increments when "Cinema" is selected. Now when I use the arrow/up/down keys the camera doesn't move nearly as far per key click. It seems to allow for better "fine tuning."As much as I like EZdok I've given up completely on trying to get the world cameras to work. I have the exact same problem that others have with the camera moving to the middle of some ocean when I click on empty camera. To my knowledge, a solution has yet to be found so maybe v2.0 will fix some of those issues as well. The bottom line for me is that enough of the features work fine on my system for me to justify its use. If the world cameras where never even included as an option I would still find enough value in just the cockpit and aircraft cameras to keep the program. If you're having issues with the cockpit cameras, though, then I can totally understand your frustration. AMD 7800X3D, RTX 4090, 42" LG C3 OLED 4K TV/Monitor
