I only have one setting for LLC, enabled lol. There's not different levels on the UD4.Regarding the PLL overvoltage... there's no setting for enabled/disabled, just a number that I'd enter. Default is 1.80 I think.
Ryan, on my ud4, I had to get a beta bios from xtreamsystems (google gigabyte beta bios) and find one that has pll overvoltage. I needed this to be enabled on my ud4 to get over 4.5. You need to set the pll voltage values to auto and give the chip 1.36v under llc enabled to get it stable and work down from there. Without pll enabled in a beta bios you may not be able to get over 4.0-4.2, mine was that way to get it past 4.5; all chips differ in that respect. It is important to get a beta bios that actually usses pll overvoltage or you will continue with these issues. Yes, boot loops on the ud4 were a pain...I think there are some better beta b3 bios' for that now. Have a look on the xtreamsystems ud4 discussion thread.

Hmmm I did get my beta f3b from that site. But my PLL overvoltage is disabled. That certainly could be the problem. IDK, I'm pretty happy with 4.0 GHz. The difference between 4.5 and 4 won't be much in FSX. Super pi 1M tests:1) stock with 3.7 turbo - 12.5 sec2) 4.0 - 9.53) 4.5 - 8.3Granted, 5GHz would be fun since most people getting near that. I'll think about trying for more later, have some vatsim events to attend to!

cool, with pll enabled and pll voltages ldt to auto you should be ok:)

I guess I'm using a diferent strategy when it comes to OC. I have no idea if it makes a difference at all regarding the life of the CPU, but I suppose it can't hurt. What I do is run everything at the optimized settings except when I fly, which is a maximum of 10-12 hours a week. Before flying I OC to 4.7 and use a vcore of 1.38. I don't know if it's a good approach or not, but I just didn't see the need to have the CPU OC for normal daily usage.Anybody has thoughts on that approach?

Smart :Applause: I have two preset BIOS settings saved. One with no OC and one with OC. I only use the OC settings when flying FSX.IMO it's wise to use no OC settings when performing system maintenance such as defragging, running chkdsk and updating the system and other software.

Man, you guys sound like you've accomplished something by declaring that you run at "stock speeds".The last thing I'm doing is "optimized" with my mobo/cpu combo. The setting my bios gives me at "optimized" uses a 103 BLK. A 103 BLK is a system overclock, regardless of CPU speed. And this stuff about two different bios settings? My "overclocked" system runs under the same load as a "default clocked" system under "everyday" conditions. As I type this, CPU-Z is showing 1.008 volts and REAL TEMP is 30c. Oh, just for the helluva it, I defraged 4 gigs of .avi files at a max temp of 52c/1.28 volts. When I think overclock, I think 72c @ 95 watts. If your over that threshold then it's technically a cpu overclock. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Why don´t you all use speedstep or whatever it is named, that automatically reduce the Ghz?This whole discussion about "Back to stock" is weird me think, what´s the logic behind the sudden change in "The FSX Hog Approach"?Less Ghz???FunkNNasty, you probably need to post some more vids to educate the ladies with your awesome overclock and performance, if your CPU is still alive and kicking?tongue.gif

I had the mini dv out yesterday, as matter of fact. I'll try to get the video onto the puter sometime today. Any special request before I upload?

Yeah, whatabout some heavy ORBX stuff without the "bloom mod smoke and mirrors" that the usual guys post?A barebone raw FSX ORBX experience would be nice!If you don´t have ORBX, then default Las Vegas is OK...A trip down the strip...Party.gif

I don't have ORBX, but I do have Vegas and other Addon airports.

Just the default Las Vegas, with max. settings and NO SILICONE STYLE BLOOM please!!I´m tired of the marketing gimmicks from all the ORBX vid makers.People are deceived into thinking it´s possible to run the crap with max. settings on louzy El Cheapo rigs, which is impossible...rolleyes.gif

What shots are you looking for? I run Orbx with LOD 6.5 and very dense autogen. The kicker is I use zero AI traffic so that allows me to fly alone in the peaceful countryside. With Orbx I start to get blurries greater than 200 kts. That scenery is darn near impossible to keep sharp.

And what would be the rig that can do it?

Just plain ordinary ORBX, without the vaseline on the screen and the horrible "New Age" music they use on the Youtube vids, a natural FSX representation...So you haven´t fixed your unstable board/CPU or Ram yet?An i5 @ stock, what a waste!I've said it before, elsewhere, remowing cars, boats, AI Traffic (Bojote), flying Vatsim, screen at 1200 x 900 or something like that, then FSX performs fine. But why oh why buy the latest and finest in PC tech, run at stock and then turn down the settings??Did I miss something, a new FSX philosophy or...??Hypnotized.gif

I'm at 4GHz - and I still haven't tried enabling PLL overvoltage yet - it may be the problem.I run 1980x1020 so it's hardly a low res like you write about. FYI I can turn on planes and boats pretty high and still runs fine. Cars are about the only issue I have.I'm not really sure what the point of your posts are? Even a 2500k/2600k cpu at stock is more powerful than pretty much any other processor out there, and these cpu's are cheap! Here's a max settings shot (no bloom though, DX9) as you can see my FPS are pretty low but not horribly low. Are you like an AMD user ###### or something lol? Untitledcars.jpg"A natural FSX representation"Would be my Orbx scenery and the Duke, one of my favorite planes. Mostly high sliders. Very dense AG, LOD 6.5 (custom edit), FEX weather, basically settings that make FSX look good to me.Untitled-58.jpg
