April 29, 201115 yr Curious before I purchase on the following questions:1- Does RC work if you use acceleration, 2x or 4x?2- This covers all ATC areas, Korea, Thailand, USA, etc? Anthony Neumann
April 29, 201115 yr Depending on the performance speed of RC on your pc you might be OK at 2X. Anything faster and you might get have comm problems, poor menu response, and especially not getting credits for waypoints you must cross. To get around this you can try this method:"Pause at DistanceIf you check the box „Pause at Distance‟, you enter the number of nautical miles away from your destination where RC will pause the flight. Typically, you set it to some point just before you start your descent. If you know beforehand that you will have the co-pilot fly the plane, you can set it at 60, which would be the point at which you start preparing for the approach phase. This option allows you to plan a long flight, get your plane to cruising altitude, and go to sleep. When you wake up in the next morning, FS will be paused and the plane ready for you to take the controls."The rest of your add-ons must handle an FS pause. There is also a feature to autosave a snapshot of your flight but certain complex add-on aircraft that does not follow the standard FS model format (PMDG is one) will not work with the function. You can download a slightly outdated manual for RC here about auto-save along with other information:http://www.jdtllc.com/documentation.htmRC4 has quite a few accented voices but nothing oriental. USA is no problem. It should pick some kind of controller voice no matter where you are. RC4 uses its own fixed database for comm frequencies but you can add those needed on a per session base or permanently by modifying a file using a text editor. I checked and several oriental airports are already in there. Airport data it needs (runway location, heading, length, threshhold placement, localizer frequencies/availability, etc.) are derived from your default and installed scenery afd (afcad type files). Any waypoints in your flightplan will be used since it gets the coordinates and names from your route plan. You should have no problem with most global areas.RC will express altitudes in feet or flight levels. Altimeter pressure will be in inches or millibars.
May 3, 201115 yr The very few times I have used 2X there were no problems. However, to me it is more fun (and more realistic) to fly real time...just let the co-pilot take over. ( I once flew a really long flight (USAF) and we showed the radio operator how to operate the autopilot and turned everything over to him and the navigator for 4 hoursso we could get a bit of sleep :( :()Regardless: Buy RC4! After using RC4 and IYP I could never give them up and still enjoy FSX. Neal Howard
May 4, 201115 yr Just to clarify about the RC co-pilot:The co-pilot can tune comms and conduct communications with ATC on most aircraft. There is a risk that if the co-pilot is not controling the aircraft the user might misunderstand the communication and do something incorrect. The same risk is involved if the RC option pilot auto-reply is enabled. The RC co-pilot can only fly aircraft during the enroute phase providing the aircraft uses the standard FS autopilot interface which is what the co-pilot interface uses. Certain models with non-standard auto-pilot/user interfaces can not be controlled, such the PMDG models.Again if all add-ons permit RC can pause a flight at a certain distance from destination if the co-pilot is flying the aircraft and at your convenience you can continue the flight. The pc would remain on with FS running during the pause. We recommend the user take back the aircraft at the start of descent.
