If you've got more money than sense you can always hop across to Dell and see how much they charge for the top of the line Alienware...one I had built cost £7200! I never actually bought it though...I just built it on their site out of interest to see how much it would cost...the one I am looking at realisticly is about £2000 and it should do an awesome job!

I paid $4400 for a new computer just for the 737NGX as I saw how the 747 crashed on my old computer. For now I am enjoying the PDMG 747 on the new computer. It run like a charm and I was never able to fly it without the damn "out of memory crash" - (damn Vista 32).It sooo cool doing the JFK VOR 13L approach in a 747 with 100 fps -smooth as my baby's a@@.

Hence the phrase "more money than sense"The one Im getting is similar to yours - also an i7 2600 3.4 overclocked to 4.6 GHz, also Sandybridge - its a touch more than yours - but thats due to my laziness and lack of building skill - also my SSD is about £500 so that adds a fair amount to the overall price!

If I remember correctly, Paul was using a 990X and a GTX 590. He posted in an earlier thread ("My comp"). So his machine is less than "optimal" for FSX. Very nice specs though. I really do hate the "X" chips though. What a rip off! :( http://forum.avsim.net/topic/334582-my-comp/

I hope you'll be getting the 2600K. If you get the 2600 your overclocking options are nearly non-existent. On the 2600, you might be able to get 3.5-3.6 by overclocking the BCLK, but that is something you don't want to do unless you really know what you're doing. Second, if this computer is for FSX, then you should get the 2500K not the 2600K because the 2600K's only advantage is that it has hyper-threading technology. FSX can't utilize this technology, so you might as well go with the 2500K which is 130USD cheaper than the 2600K. Besides, FSX relies on processor speed, and you can usually attain a higher OC without hyper-threading. you'd be surprised to see that a lot of users here on avsim have 2600K with HT turned off, and they wish they wouldn't have spent the money on the 2600K. Okay, rant over. Just trying to save you some money.
